These two monsters, Godzilla and Gamera, represent the flagship kaiju of Toho and Daiei Studios. Both have reptilian aspects and firebreathing powers. Each of these giant creatures has ripped its opponents limb from limb, but who would win if the glowing spines of Godzilla faced off with the shining tusks of Gamera?Let's compare these creatures based on their win-loss records against other kaiju, against alien humanoids, and against human beings. We can also take a look at their physical stats and their known powers. If there are other comparisons we can run I'm game, just let me know!

So is it Godzilla or Gamera?
Offer some reasons why one of them would win in a fight.
I can watch either of these guys flatten balsa Tokyo, gore it up against vampire bats and killer crabs, or bash around invading flying saucers all day long. Until I watch all the movies with each of these two I can't really make a case either way, because I don't know if Gamera has anything to match up with Godzilla's unrelenting ferocity in Final Wars. Help me make my mind up!

First, Godzilla has picked up kaiju way bigger than him. He would easily toss the smaller Gamera around. And Godzilla's durability is epic. He can take a lot of damage but in the end he whoops your ass

In one movie they show the Gamera graveyard, and each new Gamera comes from a shell. Conclusion, Gamera is a girl, so it would be Godzilla vs. Gamera - a love story! Quickly followed by the sequal entitled Gamzilla.

Gamera would pull it off somehow. In every fight, Gamera is always loosing, bleeding, or looses an arm, but is able to pull it off. Gamera is the Rocky Balboa of the Kaiju.

It would be a close fight, no doubt. It could go either way, but I'm leaning toward the turtle.
Godzilla has no cold generating powers (Cold being Gamera's weakness) and cannot endure space (wait, it Gamera hates cold how does he manage space? never mind).
Gamera's shell has repelled beam and breath weapons on many occasions and his advantage of flight cannot be discounted.
On the other hand, Godzilla regenerates, which Gamera can only do underwater (I think that's right).
Of course, Godzilla is the more popular character and thus on a meta level more likely to be written as the winner.
