We spend 1/3 of our life sleeping, and hence we should be good at it. Its when our bodys batteries recharge, our brains are digesting all the information we learned, our muscles are healing, and we are letting everything rest. There are some simple steps you can take to get a better nights sleep.

Keep snacking to a minimum after a Certain time at night...

type=textDon't eat after 7:00 pm. Even limiting your water intake is a good idea because then you can avoid making multiple trips to the bathroom. Having dinner a different times every night plays with your digestion and ability to fall asleep. Find a time that works for you and your family's schedule, and stick to it.

Don't do anything Mentally Tasking...

type=textDon't engage in a lot of mental exercises right before bed. What I'm getting at is doing work, or things that bring on stress. Best to keep the computer turned off. For some people watching tv actually helps to relax them. But for most watching something action packed and full of lots of noise and lights can be a deterrent.

Reading...it can do you mind and sleep state some good...

type=textTry light reading before bed. Maybe your partner could read to you...Gone are the days when you had 20 books piled high right beside your bed- you know books that you started but have not finished. Instead get an electronic reader such as amazon's kindle. Technology...just keeps getting more and more amazing, and lightening fast.

If you have back pain while sleeping on your back, consider using a knee elevator or jackson roll under your knees. This simple step will help to relieve pressure off of the lower back area. For side sleepers, using a leg spacer or Spinal Relief PIllowin between your knees.

Get the right pillow for sleepingUse a good neck support pillow for sleeping at night to make sure your head and neck are aligned properly. This way, you can wake up pain free as well. If you have lower back pain, consider using a pillow (or a positioning wedge) under your knees for added lower back support. Make sure you get a neck pillow that is comfortable for back and side sleeping. Most people move around during the night time. Effective supportive neck pillows such as the linear gravity neck pillow allow for sleeping in different positions. With the linear gravity pillow, you can also choose a size of neck pillow: small, medium or large. Choosing the right pillow can make the difference between a light sleep or a deep slumber.
