Gordon Ramsay Recipe Guides
Having made his mark as the extremely hot tempered chef on Hell's Kitchen, Chef Ramsay is now one of the Hot Trends even on Google today.
The Early Years
Gordon James Ramsay was born on November 8, 1966 in Johnstone, Scotland. His family constantly on the move, Ramsey finally settled down in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1976.Surprisingly, his early career interests was in soccer and not cooking, having chosen to play for Warwickshire at age 12. His football career however was marked by a number of injuries, though he still stubbornly kept on training and playing on his injured knee. In the summer of 1984, Ramsay was being actively scouted by Scottish club, Rangers, the club he supported as a boy, when he seriously injured his knee, smashing the cartilage during training.
He never fully recovered from the double injury and was told by Rangers that he would not be signed, suggesting that he could sign with a club in a lower division.
By this time, Ramsay's interest in cooking had already begun, and he chose to take on this new challenge, rather than be known as "the football player with the gammy knee".
The Budding Chef
After weighing his options, Ramsay enrolled at a local college, sponsored by the Rotarians to study Hotel Management. He describes his decision to enter catering college as "an accident, a complete accident".In the late 1980s, he worked as a commis chef at the Roxbury House Hotel, then ran the kitchen and 60-seat dining room at the Wickham Arms.
Ramsay then moved to London, where he worked in a series of restaurants until being inspired to work for the temperamental Marco Pierre White at Harveys. After working at Harveys for two years and ten months, Ramsay decided that the way to further advance his career was to study French cuisine.
Ramsay then worked for Albert Roux at Le Gavroche in Mayfair for a year before Albert Roux invited Ramsay to work with him at Hotel Diva, a ski-resort in the French Alps, as his number two. From there, Ramsay moved to Paris to work with Guy Savoy and Joël Robuchon, both Michelin-starred chefs. He continued his training in France for 3 years, before giving in to the physical and mental stress of the kitchens and taking a year to work as a personal chef on the private yacht, Idlewild, based in Bermuda.
A Master Chef Is Born
Upon his return to London in 1993, Ramsay was offered the position of head chef at La Tante Claire in Chelsea. Shortly thereafter, Marco White re-entered his life, offering to set him up with a head chef position and 10% share in the Rossmore, owned by White's business partners. The restaurant was renamed Aubergine and went on to win its first Michelin star fourteen months later. In 1997, Aubergine won its second Michelin star.In 1998, Ramsay opened his own restaurant in Chelsea, Gordon Ramsay at Royal Hospital Road, with the help of his father-in-law, Chris Hutcheson. The restaurant gained its third Michelin star in 2001, making Ramsay the first Scot to achieve that feat
From his first restaurant, Ramsay's empire has expanded rapidly, first opening Petrus, then Argan cafe in Glasgow and later Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's. Restaurants at the Dubai Creek and Connaught Hotels followed, the latter branded with his protégée, Angela Hartnett's, name. Ramsay has now begun opening restaurants outside the UK, beginning with Verre in Dubai. Gordon Ramsay at Conrad Tokyo and Cerise by Gordon Ramsay both opened in Tokyo in 2005, and in November, 2006, Gordon Ramsay at the London opened in New York City, winning top newcomer in the city's coveted Zagat guide, despite mixed reviews from professional critics.
In May 2008 Ramsay opened his first West Coast restaurant in Los Angeles, California. Situated in the former Bel-Age hotel on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, the hotel has recently been renovated and re-named the London West Hollywood. As with his New York City establishment, the restaurant will be called 'Gordon Ramsay at the London West Hollywood'. Many episodes of Ramsay's US series Hell's Kitchen are recorded in Southern California, which has generated a great deal of notoriety for Gordon Ramsay.
In 2007, Ramsay opened his first Irish restaurant; "Gordon Ramsay at Powerscourt" opened at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Powerscourt, Co. Wicklow, Ireland.
What Do You Think Of Chef Ramsay In Hell's Kitchen?
Week after week we see him yelling, berating and cursing F languages at the poor sods. Yet, week after week they still come back for more. Makes you wonder if they are masochists who enjoy the torture.
Do The Participants Deserved To Be Yelled At Like That?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byHell No, he should give them some slack.
CarrieGeyer says:
Usually they do...but he does ham it up for the camera and his ratings, I think.

No one deserves to be yelled at even if they have done some thing wrong. We're people not robots who don't have feelings.

Ah..Yes, they are like in military basic training. Most of them have no right to be in the same kitchen as Chef Ramsey. Some of my managing skills paralell to Chef. So I understand why and where he is going. 99 percent of my staff love me for that to rid of the crap we have now. Which brings out a higher level from the rest of your staff...so for those how can't stand the heat...PISS OFF!

They have a chance to work with GORDON F-ING RAMSEY!!! He has passion for what he does. They should grow a pare and take it. It's not a question of if they deserve it. It's a question about how much do they want it. And just an FYI some people are just more naturally crude (like Gordon) there is nothing wrong with the way he talks to them. Your going to be owning your own, or running one of his restaurants (some of us could only dream). THEY NEED TO SUCK IT UP AND TAKE IT. Don't like it don't watch. I'm sure there is some sort of PBS charity special on instead.....

I think if it wasn't for his ranting and raving it would just be another cooking show. Yes he is annoying, but that's what makes the show unique.
5***** for a nice lens.
