Gothic Dragon - Oriental Styled Bedroom Theme

The walls are the main focus of your Oriental bedroom scene, as you begin by painting the walls a mix of cream and ivory shades using a faux painting technique. Include a flat red accent wall in the same room to showcase and enhance your favorite hanging decorations.

Turn one wall into an over-sized scroll:

1. Hang long wooden circular rods on both the top and bottom, centered on one wall using curtain rod brackets. Hang red tassels on each end of the rods.

2. Use a thin brush dipped in tan and black paint to draw in the edges of the scroll between the rods to look like a sheet of paper.

3. Paint Kanji characters, Chinese astrology symbols, Celestial dragons, Phoenix, Tigers, or a landscape mural to complete your project.

If you do not want to paint on the wall, buy a few yards of painter's canvas fabric to hang in between. If you can't paint, there are many stencils and stamps available that will work well.

Furniture should be dark wood, or painted black with a high-shine gloss. Knobs and handles painted silver, and use a jade green color to trace bamboo leaves, a carved jade dragon design, amulets, old coins, etc. For the non-painters, cut out pictures from magazines or posters, spread a thin layer of glue to the back and apply to painted furniture when dry. Then, gloss over the pictures to preserve them.

Curtains for this room are heavy satin and brocade styles. Use deep ruby red or black fabric, patterned with smaller Oriental designs. Tie back with thick corded black tassels, or garlands of silk black roses. Hang good luck coins from the tassels.
