Gothic Spider Web Romantic Living Room Theme

Shadows dance around the room from candlelight and silver tones to create a still, romantic sanctuary. Use a flat medium gray paint on three of the longest walls in the room, and a glossy dark red base on the other. While the red wall is still wet, sponge some of the gray color over it to imitate the look of an old untouched room. You want to drown out the heavy furniture so that it doesn't take away from the overall light feel of the room. Paint or cover it all a dark color. The red wall is to draw attention away from your largest piece of furniture. If you are using this theme for a living room, for example, you would place your entertainment center on one of the gray walls.

Curtains should be thin and have and airy feel. Light gray lace is our choice, tied back with strands of beads such as a spider web with dew on it early in the morning. Tall pillar candles and large chunk candles create the same mood during night hours. This is the perfect room to place any pewter or silver objects to portray a mystical feeling. Use small intricate items like hourglasses, figurines, tribal artwork, and vintage frames. Don't forget the spiders! Dried plants and roses also can be set in pillars and vases.

Wrought iron is a must - use intricate small frame, almost wired, pieces to give the feeling of web work. A few spider goblets and red hourglass treasures will enhance the romantic aspect.

As tempting as it is, don't go for the fake Halloween spider webs just yet... You can purchase thin metal wire at any craft store and cut pieces to twist together into webs. Create these for the corners of your walls and shelves. Add a few beads, or attach smaller pieces together to form a complete molding. Weave your own ideas into this room and tempt your intruders into staying a while longer.

Adorn your walls with appropriate artwork. They become the main accent pieces and a high focus of your Gothic room design.
