Unique and Fun - Gothic Wedding Theme

A Gothic Wedding can be very unique and fun for all family members. Gothic is a term coined to pertain to the darker side of life; usually based on music, clothing, and decorating styles. But Gothic is an extremely vague term for no other Goth is like another, no matter how many different labels are applied. Gothic is elegant, poetic, and romantic, with a determination to find deeper meaning in life which can make for an extremely killer wedding. ;-)

Gothic Wedding Symbols/Imagery

In fact, we'll have been together 7 years before we are tying the knot this year on Halloween. Halloween is a popular date for Gothic Weddings, however we are only doing so because we missed the chance to marry on our anniversary. So, what other date would allow our favorite celebration to always be remembered? Trick-or-Treat!

A Gothic Wedding is a creative way to show your individuality. You never know what a Gothic Wedding will be like, except that it will be filled to the brim with romantic imagery and style.

Dark Wedding Music 

Gothic music comes in all forms, but is very commonly overlooked poetry. Rammstein and Cradle of Filth are good examples of romantic lyrics, but heavy hard-hitting notes. Other groups, such as Within Temptation and Nox Arcana have a dark and natural opera-esk sound. Many prominent classical titles have a darker appeal and have been popular for centuries. A good play list of a mix with all your favorite artists can create appropriate energy levels to enhance your enchanted evening, while dancing the night away.

Favors for your Guests

gothic wedding, favorsThe simplest idea is to collect Halloween favors, and I don't mean cheap plastic items that you throw into kids trick-or-treat bags! There are more elegant items such as candles, glass bottles, figurines, ornaments, wooden coffins and even glass test tubes that you can fill.

Check hobby and craft stores for the best favors or create your own with black flowers, organza bags, and black tea lights. Include a short poem, card, or photo of the both of you declaring your love to each other to offer with your favors. Other personalized suggestions include compilation CDs, goblets, stones or magic tools, astrology cards, and simple handmade items.

Goth Decor and Flowers 

Hanging Items:
Black tulle, lace, orange/purple/red light strands, spider webbing, web fabric, cheesecloth dyed and torn, feather boas, large velvet bows.

Flowers and Plants:
Although true black flowers do not exist, you can find several varieties that come close. Silk flowers are a great alternative.

Almost Black (dark purple):
"Black Beauty" and "Night Watchman" Roses, Nemophila, "Queen of Night" tulips, "Paint it Black" Iris, "Bowles Black" Viola, "Black Barlow" Aquilegia, "Black Dragon" Coleus.

Blood Red:

    This is a really cool lens. Someday I get to get married. I have not done that yet lol. I don't want my dress to be solid white, I was thinking maybe a tad white and maybe some red or black funeral wallpaper pattern to it. The Goth wedding theme is classy and cool and unique at the same time!
