In these Challenging and Dangerous Times we need the Leadership of Lindsey Graham
Lindsey Graham has served on the Armed Services and Veteran's Affairs Committees since his election to the Senate. In this capacity he has provided leadership in the War on Terror, Veteran's care, and Iraq.
He was a chief architect of the Military Commissions Act which provides for a procedure through which Guantanamo Bay detainees can be tried according to courts-martial procedures. It also allows them to see the evidence against them. He stood up against the administrations use of torture and insisted that we fight the terrorists according to our values.
He has been a leader in attempting to fight the Iraq war. He had suggested an increase in troops immediately. Now he is a strong supporter of the Patreaus plan to fight counterinsurgency operations and stabilize the government so we can leave.
Graham has enacted an expansion of TRICARE so that all military personnel have access to health care benefits.
He is the only sitting senator that serves in the armed forces He has deployed to Afghanistan to help accomplish the mission there by training lawyers. He is a Colonel in the reserves and a Judge Advocate.
"We live in challenging times where we need bold, conservative leadership. Like Presidents Reagan and Bush, we must confront evil without blinking. Our values are our strengths only if we embrace them."

Training Future Lawyers and Building a Fledgling Democracy
Graham helps train Afghan military lawyers
James Rosen | The State | 3 September 2006
Graham was trying to use his Southern wit to leaven the complex principles and practices of U.S. military law he was teaching.
His self-deprecating, cornball jokes play well on the Senate floor or back in South Carolina, but here in the Afghan capital, delivered through an interpreter, they were falling flat.
Each time the colonel cracked a joke, the few other Americans in the room broke out laughing, while the Afghans sat stone-faced.
In mock exasperation, Graham turned to the translator and said: "You're not very funny!"
During his mid-August mission to train Afghan judges, lawyers and prosecutors in the fledgling democracy's armed forces, Graham was the first sitting member of Congress in decades to perform military duty in a war zone.

Serving in Iraq
Senator visits Iraq, spends week on active duty
Ian Carrier | Air Force News | 10 April 2007A Senator usually visits Iraq for a few days as part of a congressional delegation and then returns stateside. They usually make their pronouncements about the situation from a political standpoint only. Sen. Graham is in a unique position being a United States Air Force Reserve Colonel and Judge Advocate.
Sen. Graham was a member of a recent delegation to Iraq with Sen. John McCain. He toured Iraq with the delegation on 1 and 2 April and then traded his casual clothes for desert camoflage. Sen. Graham served a week of active duty in Iraq with the Judge Advocate's office of the Multinational Force-Iraq.
