The Purpose of This Lens
A gamer who has too much time on his hands (or sometimes not enough) and has decided to undertake a lens on video games, reviewing, forwarding good previews from magazines, providing links to top notch sites of information and downloads, reminding people of great oldies, and keeping track of what's been going on been doing lately in the gaming world.
I'm mostly a PC gamer but I do spend a considerable amount of my gaming time on the 360. Lately I haven't been playing all that much on the 360. I'm supposed to be getting The Darkness and the Club in the mail from Gamefly in a bit, but dunno when, they're taking quite a while, stupid gamefly...
If you wanna play a game (360) just drop me a friend request. My gamertag is IROn 5L1nKY. The O is an oh.
You can think of this as a sort of video game blog, but in actuallity it's more akin to a gaming magazine.
Currently I'm trying to break my squidoo fasting and get back into the glorious process of making lenses!
My freshest, featured lens right now is Team Fortress 2 Underground.
Make sure to check it and all my other lenses out for the sake of quality gaming!

Randomness
Your place for fun and sometimes disturbing facts about our gaming reality
A gamer point on Xbox Live is worth 1.25 cents: multiply that by how many points you want, and that's the cost. Word of Caution
Please heed this advice!

So warranties are not so necessary on most items, right? Well, with an Xbox 360 you may want to consider otherwise, as this expensive console had developed quite the track record and is notorious, no, infamous, even, for it's erratic habit to consistently fail the user when they are in need the most. I just had my Xbox 360 fail with the one red light in the third player's position and the error message of E74. I was 14 days out of warranty and $99 was not what was in my wallet. That was just the crisp cold morning of Saturday December the 20th, which just so happened to be my first day of winter break. To avoid this same problem happening to you there are three things you can do:
1. Make sure you have an extended warranty or some sort of coverage to keep you safe if you have troubles.(remember, if it's not three red lights it's only covered by a standard one year warranty, otherwise, with the 3 red lights, it's three years warranty)
2. Just try to keep the darn thing as cool as possible. Don't run it when you don't need to, and make sure it's got something more than it's own fans cooling it and that it's not in a place that will encourage heat buildup.
3. For heaven's sakes, make sure you're enjoying every moment you get to spend playing the thing right now, because there may come a time in the near future where M$ ****s you over like they did me!

The Best of FREEWARE!
If you're not into paying then this is your place
- Frets on Fire
- An awesome freeware version of guitar hero, and for the PC! Just use the keyboard to shred or plug in your PS2 or 360 axe and rawk out!
- Dwarf Fortress
- This is an awesome little medieval sort of sims game that whose graphics are entirely consist of ASC II characters. It's awesome, bluntly stated, but it is a niche game, so don't expect it to work for everyone. Make sure to give it a quick try, though, you never know.
- Urban Terror
- Formerly a mod for quake III, now a standalone title, this mod aims to give you a realistic online shooter experience, and in my opinion, more than lives up to that promise.
- Half Life 2 Deathmatch and Lost Coast
- These two games are free for whoever owns an ATI video card, which is quite a deal. Deathmatch offers many hours of fun for those who enjoy that sort of old-school multiplayer.
- Hidden and Dangerous Deluxe
- The original game, in full form. Enjoy!
Great for co-op with a few friends and taking on the nazi battalions. - Command and Conquer Gold (original game)
- Both the GDI and NOD disks can be found here. They would lead you to believe that multiplayer is not possible, but go to this website and it'll show you the simple way to install the game and unlock multiplayer. YOU'RE WELCOME!
Vital Sites for Gaming
These are good community links for both consoles as well as PC gamers
- XBOX LIVE
- Communicate with friends, send messages readable from the 360 dashboard, even if you have an xbox. Many daily published features that are interesting to read, as well as a constant stream of advertisements for cool things. Online store for 360, details on the different versions of the console available and everything else you could possibly wish for.
- XFIRE
- This site is vital for PC gamers. Xfire is a free downloadable application which has a friends list, one click join, server list, favorites, and in game instant messaging, plus it's own unique game file download system. It supports thousands and thousands of games so don't worry about your favorite being on the list, it most likely is. ALL PC GAMERS SHOULD GET THIS!!!
- Steam
- This is basically either an online only or downloadable application that allows you to purchase games from a vast and varied library, for a price of course, and play them straight off your PC without any disks. It was created by Valve and is home to the Half Life series. It now has a community that is Valves answer to Xbox Live, which basically means it offers a complex friends system with pictures, bios, invitations, groups, events, and all kinds of good community tools for you to use.
- Newegg
- This is an excellent website to purchase computer hardware from, although they also sell consoles and games for all systems as well as a lot of other weird stuff. They generally have very reasonable prices, and they always ship quickly. Overall, A MUST KNOW site for hardware junkies and people looking to upgrade their rigs.
- Games For Windows
- This is the official site for the Games For Windows magazine, which some of you may formerly remember as Computer Gaming World (some of you possibly for the last 20 years!).
Anyhoo, it's a great site for learning about new games, especially Microsoft sponsored ones (no offense). It offers a game advisor which is a downloadable program that will scan your computer and tell you what games you can play, etc. The site is highly polished and is nice to look through, not to mention the best place to subscribe at. - Xbox 360 News and Guide Blog
- This is an excellent blog site for anything Xbox 360 related, be sure to check it out, it has a little bit of everything and you might just find that you love thig guy's writing style.
- IGN Podcast Index
- Game Scoop, Three Red Lights, Beyond, To Catch an Editor, Alt-Tab, Channel Surfing, Keeping it Reel, Wiik in Review, and even more. SCOOP!
- Game FAQs
- Having trouble with a game? Need a guide or a list of cheats? This is the absolute number one place to visit then. No other site, not even the godlike IGN has the numerical values this site retains, FOR EVERY GAME!

- IROn 5L1nKY's Live Profile
- Make sure to check out my Xbox and Games for Windows Live profile so you can determine just how much bigger your gamerscore is than mine... or how much smaller (hehe).
Bored?
Check out these websites for all sorts of entertainment and usefullness
- Zoho Online Workshop
- This website keeps getting better (much like squidoo), but at the moment it is a community ready place where you can go, for free might I add, and write (word), make spreadsheets, and many other useful things (mush like microsoft office would cost you a hundred dollars or more to do). Please investigate it if you're interested in improving how you spend your time and work on the computer.
- Rhapsody Online
- Make an account here and you can listen to a very wide selection of music for free (25 songs a month) which is a pretty good deal. It's a good way to legally explore new music and maybe find some cool stuff by an artist you thought you had all the albums of (hint hint, they have exclusive material). If you really find that you love the service and just can't get enough of it, you can become a member for 13 dollars a month, listen to as many songs as you want, and download any song for only 89 cents.
