The Amplified Bible says they left the tomb hastily with
fear and great joy and ran to tell the disciples. And what was their
message? It was a joyous message. It was a Good News message.
And that Gospel message is still being proclaimed: everyone who
comes to God comes through the power of the blood and the resurrection
of Jesus Christ.
They come into new life, into that same
resurrection life made manifest on that resurrection morning.
When that new life comes to dwell on the inside of us, we experience
the same joy that they experienced on that day.
Even though we weren't there, we are now there by the
Holy Ghost, because we are being quickened together in Christ.
Two thousand years later that joy is still grabbing hold of us, and
we stand in awe of the empty tomb. Then we run with joy to tell
the world that He is alive and that He's risen. Hallelujah!
There are people who say; "We don't really have the same
joy they had because they were right there - we were not."
Listen, you were there in the Spirit. When you come to the cross
and you surrender your life to Jesus, you realize that you were
crucified with Him, that you died with Him, that you were buried
with Him, and that you've been raised to a new life in Him. (See
Galatians 2:20.)
It gives us great joy that because He lives, I can live also.
Because He Lives, death has no dominion over me. Sickness and
disease have no dominion over me. Poverty has no dominion over
me. Sin has no dominion over me because my fife is hid with
Christ in God. I can live today because He lives and He reigns.
My heart rejoices and no man can take my joy from me! (See
John 16:22.)
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye
see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable
and full of glory.
1 PETER 1:8
The reason you and I can have that joy that's unspeakable
and full of glory is because of that same resurrection life. That's
what is happening in our Holy Ghost meetings - people are coming
into contact with the power and the anointing of the Spirit of
God. It's that resurrection life coming all over again. It's the
same Spirit, who raised Jesus Christ from the dead, who dwells in
you. It's going to quicken your mortal body. (See Romans 8:11.) Have
you ever been quickened by the Holy Ghost?
