This is a brilliant lens and I've featured it on my latest lens, Local Time and Railway Time. I've always been an admirer of Brunel. With a name like Isambard Kingdom Brunel he had to be a great man and achieve great things!

Great Lens. Reminds me of Great Railway Journeys on the BBC.

I would love to take a long trip on a railway someday. The Orient Express would be nice but I am considering the closer to home Empire Builder. Chicago to Seattle through Glacier National Park. What a trip that will be.

Very nice work, absorbing and entertaining; I used to sit and watch those leviathan things pulling through my local station on the way to the seaside at Whitby N. Yorks. Even travelled on them a few times before they were taken away for good; I for one was heartbroken.
  • lilkon May 17, 2009 @ 8:28 am | delete
Born next to the Nickel Plate R.R. in 1929, my first breaths were of the sulfer coal smell dispersed when the trains passed under the bridge. Trains of the U.K. are treasures. My heart skips a beat when I see them. Great lens!

Love your "Brunel's Great Western Railway". I love the old train engines. I am a native California and the first time I went to the Sacramento Train Museum I was in seven heaven. What was amazing how they displayed many of the big engines. They had put them up 3 & 4 stories with cranes. It was so exciting to see these big guys. Five stars and a lensroll.
