1 The Smoky Moutains National Park is the MOST visited National Park in the country. Yep, it has more visitors a year than even the Grand Canyon! Roughly over 20 million visit the park each year.

2 The Smoky Mountains National Part was established on June 15, 1934 and consists of over half a million acres of land that is located in parts of North Carolina and Tennessee.

3 Within the Smoky Mountains National Park there are 130 different types of trees, along with 1,300 other plant species. There are also several beautiful types of wildflowers to be seen throughout the year, especially in the Spring. There are also 65 different types of mammals in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park including bears, foxes, wolves, white tailed deer, wild turkey, and several other beautiful animals.

4 There are about 850 miles of hiking trails within the Smoky Mountains National Park system.

5 he mountain range in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park varies from 875 feet to 6,643 feet. One of the most popular lookout spots in the Great Smoky Mountains is Clingmans Dome. Clingmans Dome has the highest elevation in the park.

If you're plans are fly fishing, then you're gonna need to know where the water is!

The Smoky Mountains are fed by many different water sources. There are several rivers, streams, and even a few lakes that you might find to be good places to fish. The following are some of the water sources of the Smokies:
Little Pigeon River
Oconaluftee River
Little River

The Pigeon River and the Little Tennessee River pass along the park boundaries to the northeast and southwest, respectively. Streams in the Smokies are part of the Tennessee River watershed.
