Environmentally Friendly and Ergonomic Office & Desk Chairs
Anyone spending day in, day out sat at a desk or workstation knows the importance of something good to sit on. For years I've sat on mid-range chairs for 40 hours a week and had to replace chairs every 12-18months. Not only that, but mostly, despite their ergonomic claims, most haven't been fantastically comfortable either. This resulted in time away from desk, stretching, stimulating blood circulation in my legs, and I'm sure on a number of occasions they have been the cause of a trip to the Osteopath.
On my last trip to the Osteo we started discussing my office chairs and how fast I seemed to get through them. It seemed I wasn't alone in finding mid-range desk chairs to be quite disposable as well as uncomfortable for long periods of sitting. I was then persuaded to look at spending a bit more on my next chair with promises of it lasting upto 10years as well as being almost perfectly ergonomic and supportive of good posture.
I walked away with a number of recommendations and the intention of doing a little research into which was going to be the best for me as well as the environment, as I want to try and offset the number of chairs I've previously sent to landfill at the end of their lives!
Herman Miller Aeron Office Chair
This is a timeless classic of a chair by renowned designer Herman Miller. With a 12 year guarantee and spares and replacement parts this chair could last a lifetime. Designed in 3 sizes for 99% of the population this durable chair is for extreme usage, just see the Aeron Chair Hockey video below to see how hard some people work their chairs! The green credentials of this chair are also impressive. The extremely ergonimic design which has been winning awards for years, including the "Design of the Decade" Gold Winner in office furniture from the Industrial Designers Society of America and Business Week magazine.
It may be the oldest design displayed here at 20years old, but it is still well ahead of many competitors. Also, having been around for a while there are plenty of pre-owned and refurbished Aeron chairs out there at reasonable prices.

- Our office chairs resemble the Herman Miller ones, but I don't think they are that good. I had to buy a different chair as I have back problems and have had back surgery. Nice selection! I guess I never really thought of green office chairs before. It is good to know to be environmentally-friendly!!!

- My last chair lasted less than a year and cost about 75$. So with a 12 years guarantee plus the green factor and cool look I think it is a good investment. These are new to me, it is the first time I heard about them. Interesting
