When I began Eco-Friendly Fashion.com I had no idea how much of an adventure it would be to green my wardrobe. Albeit a simple choice, the decision to purchase more eco friendly clothing has set me on a journey bigger than I ever imagined--one I hope to share with others.

10 Easy Ways to a Green and Recession-Proof Wardrobe
1. Make practical fashion purchases when you go shopping. Only buy clothing you absolutely love, fits great, and will wear from season to season. In other words, avoid impulse buys.
2. Clean out your closet. There is nothing like shopping in your own wardrobe. Take a little time to clean out your closet. Sometimes you'll find some great fashion items you forgot you had. Plus it is a great opportunity to bag up all your unwanted clothing for a local women's shelter or thrift store.
3. Host a clothing exchange party. Get a group of friends and friends of friends together for a fashion swap. New-to-you clothing by way of good, old-fashioned and recycled fun.
4. Sell your unwanted clothing on eBay. eBay is a fabulous and easy way to turn your used clothing into a little cash. You might just be surprised at how much someone is willing to pay for your "junk."
5. Shop for vintage and new-to-you clothing on eBay. Once you're done selling your unwanted clothing, try shopping on eBay. eBay is an excellent resource for affordable vintage and used clothing.
6. Go to recycled clothing stores. Try shopping at Buffalo Exchange or Crossroads Trading Company. Both stores carry a fabulous selection of high-end brands and contribute a percentage of their sales to local and/or environmental charities. If you don't have either store near you, try checking out local consignment and thrift stores.
7. Check out garage sales and flea markets. Garage sales and flea markets are a limitless adventure. You never know what you might find.

Or shop at the Mom and Pops in your neighborhood. When you support the local, small and independent businesses and artisans, you are investing in community, individuality and the economy.
