Green Tea Powder- Garden of Eden in Glass?

Okay, let's not get carried away, but this is pretty good stuff! You've heard about it from, um, certain big talk show hosts and trendy magazines.

So what's all the hype with Green Tea Powder and why are health gurus and exercise gurus talking about it?

Green Tea Powder is a special preparation of green tea leaves.

Green Tea Powder could be a little more expensive than other green tea products, but that is because it is hand picked and only the best tea leaves make the cut, and it requires a long time to grind the leaves for the powder. Powdered teas have been about since early Chinese history and the preparation and drinking of the tea was performed as a ritual by the Zen Buddhists and later specialists in Japanese Tea ceremonies

Technically, the cost of the green tea powder depends on the standard of the powder. Quality is determined by top notch plants and more explicitly the position of the leaf/leaves on the tea bush. Those leaves picked from the top are softer and considered a higher grade while the leaves at the bottom are harder and considered to be of lower grade.

It's important that care is taken in grinding, which needs a special technique to maintain the best grade. Ultimately, the tea leaves must be kept from oxidization to keep the finer grade of tea leaf.

So do YOU really drink green tea powder?

It's a mixed bag from what I hear. I personally eat and drink things that I don't LOVE LOVE, but I know that they are good for me. So do tell, do you drink it because you love it (and share any tips please) or do you drink it because you should?

Very interesting to hear that green tea powder is used in chocolates etc - I hadn't heard of it before. I really don't like the taste of green tea generally... but I'm sure I wouldn't mind it sprinkled in something else (chocolate for instance ;) ) - may be a more palatable way of ingesting it for those of us who don't like the flavour. :)

I had never heard of green tea in powder form -- do you have a picture of that to share? I do love green tea and hope to drink more of it.
