I am a fan of Gretchen Wilson. I love her realness, the down home flavor and the lack of glitz and glamour that is Country Music today. She reminds me of yesterday when country singers had heart and soul that was born and bred in tradition ... not just a stepping stone to a modeling career or acting contract.
About Gretchen Wilson
The Redneck Woman
Gretchen Wilson was born in a small town in Illinois and raised by a single mother in a trailer park.Her father left them when she was two, and Wilson left school in the ninth grade to go to work as a cook and later a bartender. She was living completely on her own by the age of 15, and began singing in bar bands at that time.
She moved to Nashville in 1996 and struggled there early on as well. However, she was eventually discovered and signed with Epic Records.
Since then, Gretchen Wilson tickets have sold as well as her albums, many of which went platinum.
