Gypsy Moon Designs

Artist created Jewelry.

I have been creating and selling my jewelry since 1994. It is truly my passion and with hard work, and persistence I have been able to turn my passion into my livelihood.

My designs range from chunky & funky to sweet & simple!

I currently sell my designs at craftshows in the pacific northwest and online at Gypsy Moon Designs

Chunky Jewelry is hot

The summer craft season has ended and now it is time to get the online store shelves stocked for the holidays.

This fall/winter season chunky beaded necklaces are the rage. As a chunky jewelry designer that really makes me
happy!

This season I am designing with these yummy large copper hoops. It is great selling all summer at craft shows, it allows me to get the public's reactions to my designs.

These three designs went like hot cakes! I have them available at my shop Gypsy Moon Designs,

2009 Craft Show Season

Best Ever

Craft show season 2009 is the best season I have ever had! I have been selling at shows off and on since 1995. I have been consistently selling for the last 6 Summers.

With the poor economy I expected a bad season. I sell from May thru October each year. This May started out incredibly strong. By mid June I noticed it was starting to drop. I thrive on being pro-active, so I started making a ton of earrings in the $6 to $10 category.

Pyramiding your inventory from low price to high end really helps. My average sale was $15 and when I sold a $100 to $250 piece it helped raise my average sale.

When you sell a ton of lower price items it does create a lot more production work for you. But, I do this for a living and with my work being very seasonal I just remind myself that Winter will come and I can work at a more relaxed pace then.

How to start your own website

I already have a website on Etsy.com,which is a handcraft website. I am new to the world of online and discovered how spoiled I am by the ease of Etsy.

I decided to branch out and get my own website. I first started by getting my domain name. I went toGo Daddy for that and I am very pleased with their great customer service. Being new to this I had not a clue of what I was doing. So, I had the domain name forwarded to my Etsy shop while I searched out a place to host my website.

I chose Big Cartell. They are a shopping cart and use Pay Pal. That made it easy because I already use pay Pal for my Etsy shop.

Once I signed up with them I went back over to GoDaddy.com and forwarded and masked my domain name to my Big Cartel shop.

I am discovering that it would be easier if I understood HTML better with the Big cartel site. Part of me wishes I would have tried Homestead.com. I am finding it difficult to make my shop look unique on Big Cartel, but, it does force me to learn about CSS and HTML. But, I like the idea of templates at Homestead.

Through the forums on Etsy I gain a ton of information. I put my domain name into the Add your URL to Google. The bots or spiders have not crawled my shop yet, so I don't see my shop when I Google it. I hope to soon!

One doesn't have to be a member of Etsy to read the forums there. You can search forum titles and find some useful information.

My new shop is at GypsyMoonDesigns.com . It is still in the making and I eagerly await my first sale.

I hope you found some helpful information here for beginners (like me)!

Genuine Chunky Turquoise necklace

This genuine chunky turquoise is drop dead gorgeous! The vivid blue color is natural Nacozari turquoise. The design is contemporary and sophisticate.

Nacozari Turquoise is from Sonora, Mexico and rivals in it's beauty with Sleeping Beauty Turquoise.

American/Mexican Turquoise is just becoming rarer and should raise in value over time.

This chunky strand is graduated in size from 22mm wide to 12 mm wide. Total carat weight is 515.

You can visit my Etsy shop to see more photos and other jewelry designs.

Blog

I have been online with my designs for a year now. Wow, is there a ton of stuff to learn. How to write in html, google page ranking, google data base and analysis.

I started a blog too! I would love you to come visit at Gypsy Moon Designs

I was watching the HBO series "Rome" when I got this idea for these earrings!

I made myself a pair also and was complimented twice that day on them!

These earrings are designed with copper and Lapis Azul. You can find them at my shop, http://www.gypsymoondesigns.etsy.com

Crafts and Craft Shows: How to Make Money

From Library Journal
For many crafters, the proliferation of craft shows presents an opportunity to do enjoyable work while making money. However, the craft business is like any other small business, with all the pitfalls. Kadubec, who with his wife ran a successful business selling baskets at shows for several years, here gives us the benefit of his experience. In the chatty, anecdotal style usual in this type of guide, he emphasizes good business practice as it relates to dealing with customers, pricing, and presentation in the show booth. There is a lot of behind-the-scenes information about applying to shows and dealing with promoters. For its realistic picture of today's craft business, this is an excellent selection for public libraries.
