The 20 Steps To Happiness all Started When I learnt To Share A Smile
"If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours, they're free"
As not only did it make me smile, but I acted on it and when I was out with my Mum if I saw anyone that looked a bit sad, down or angry I just smiled, I loved the happy response I got, and still do. It really is a lovely feeling when someone smiles back. Granted not everyone does but when they do it is a gift your mind loves to get. So why not give it a go, hey, it will cost you nothing, and give you so much back.
Step 1 of The 20 Steps To Happiness
Be attentive to yourself. Avoid listening to the news ALL THE TIME, as they say "bad news sells" so from that you can get what most of the news either on the television or in the papers is going to be. These are things you can't change as they have already happened. You cannot go there yesterday and make it not happen. So instead focus on making your right here, right now, the best right here right now you can.

Live in the now, the moment. There is never a better time to do what makes you happy as RIGHT NOW.

STEP 3 of 20 Steps To Happiness
You cannot change the past so do not worry about it.
The past is exactly that, past. It has gone. Leave it alone.
Don't dredge up old arguments, or bad feelings. Start training your mind to focus only on the things you love and desire rather on the things you hate and do not.

STEP 4 of The 20 Steps To Happiness
You cannot predict the future so don't worry about it. Worrying about the future is like trying to knit fog. Pointless. Living for a time that is not here is energy that you could have put to way better use on making your moment now a happy one.

STEP 5 of 20 Steps To Happiness
Realise you cannot change other people, just as they cannot change you. If you love someone do it unconditionally, love them for who they are as any other way is not true love. So either accept them for who they are or gravitate away from them and towards those who do make you happy, this may sound a bit harsh to some people but it is kinder on both you and them.

Exercise. Try to do something first thing to get your heart rate up (stop giggling at the back of the class). Excersice releases endorphins that will naturally pick up your mood and also help your health along the way. TICK TICK!

STEP 7 of 20 Steps To Happiness
Learn to let your mind be quiet for 10 minutes a day. Just sit/lay somewhere quiet and comfy and close your eyes
(NOTE: Please don't try this whilst driving it does not relax you, just makes you hurt a lot).
When a negative thought pops into your mind just mentally ask yourself "what am I thinking now?" move on to a more positive thought. Keep repeating this step each time. It does not matter whether you have 10 minutes of asking "what am I thinking now" you will be pulling your mind away from negativity. This is training your mind to think what you WANT it to think rather than let it go feral and throw anything at you. Over time, and with practice you will be able to just sit quietly and literally think of nothing, this truly gives your mind a rest and helps you to become more focussed.
STEP 8 of 20 Steps To Happiness
Jump up and down on the spot as many times as you can as high as you can. I have no idea why but it always makes you smile! If you don't believe me, try it.
STEP 9 of 20 Steps To Happiness
Listen to music you adore, that lifts your heart and makes you want to dance

STEP 11 of 20 Steps To Happiness
This one sounds way too easy, but, smile. Simply by letting yourself smile will bring your happy levels up. If you just look upwards and will make you feel happier. If you don't believe me. Try it
. . . . THE KEY, IS TO BELIEVE IT!

STEP 12 of 20 Steps To Happiness
Read regularly and widely, articles, books anything that has a positive, or happy theme to it, if it makes you laugh out loud, even better! If it piques your curiosity, find out about it. Learning new information that pleases you is the key to journeying on the right path.
Reading Is A Great Way To Broaden Your Horizons
(And funny books are a great way to have a giggle)
The list below are just a few books that I love.
STEP 13 of the 20 Steps To happiness
Stand tall, breath slowly and deeply. I am only 5ft 1" and I can manage it. It is another very simple thing but if you stand with your head held high and shoulders back you will look and feel more positive. Breathing deeply and slowly helps relax, and stops panic. Think about it for a moment if you had just been told you had won something you would sit up straight and laugh or smile. So always feel like a winner!
20 Steps To Happiness Learn To Breath
Here are some ideas
- Breathing Methods that Increase Body and Brain Oxygen Levels
- There are many breathing techniques and breathing methods that improve body and brain oxygen content. However, as a first step, let us consider how we can measure body oxygen levels.
- THE SEVEN PRINCIPLES OF SYSTEMA BREATHING
- The most effective teaching method I have ever come across to help calm the mind and body through breathing. Taught by Systema
- Anxiety Breathing Techniques and Acupressure: A Powerful Self Therapy For Anxiety and Stress
- Learn classic anxiety breathing techniques combining slow, deep breathing with acupressure and self-massage. These form a powerful self therapy for anxiety, nervousness, emotional stress and tension.
- Breathing Exercises For Living Life and Loving It
- BREATHING EXERCISES
Breathing re-education work, and the exercises related to it, can be divided into a number of categories. These exercises are extremely helpful in overcoming various kinds of breathing problems. They also promote diaphragmatic breathing, belly breathing, back breathing, etc. - Breathing - the Proper Technique
- Breathing techniques and exercises are becoming an important part of almost all healing disciplines. Studies show that a proper inhale and exhale technique, if exercised at proper intervals, has measurable medical benefits to include stress reduction.
- Abdominal Breathing
- Breathing is a necessity of life that usually occurs without much thought. When you breathe in air, blood cells receive oxygen and release carbon dioxide
STEP 14 of the 20 Steps To happiness
Appreciation is the name of the game here. Your feelings and emotions are a guide to your thoughts and alert you to what you are thinking. So pay attention to how you feel. If you are not feeling good use technique no. 7 to halt your thought pattern. Then find something nice to think about. You don't have to trawl your memory for something good that may have happened, just simply stop and look around you and appreciate something in your line of vision or range of hearing maybe someone is wearing a jumper in your favourite colour, or has spikey hair that makes you smile. Maybe you can hear people laughing or even the strange swooshing noise cars make as they whizz past. Its the simple art of stopping your negative thoughts in their tracks that lifts your mood, then finding something to appreciate raises it further.

STEP 15 of the 20 Steps To happiness
Contrast is a great thing in life as knowing what you don't like automatically shows you what you do like. This is a great trick to learn when you think things are going wrong, as you will be shown how you DON'T like your life going which means now you can concentrate on the things you do like and follow the better more positive path.
20 Steps To Happiness
Superb Contrast Found In a Song
A great part of the song is . . .
You see the Drip drop coming
Everybody give way
Cant stop forming
May as well embrace the rain
Let it rain
Let it rain
[ Lyrics from http://www.songonlyrics.com/tinchy-stryder-let-it-rain-lyrics-feat-melanie-fiona ]
In other words, its happening, it's here, instead of bemoaning something embrace it. Love it. Enjoy it. There is always sunshine ahead.
STEP 16 of the 20 Steps To happiness
Keep your space at work/in the vehicle/at home tidy it will give you a sense of breathing space in your mind.
Here are four tips from the web . . .

STEP 17 of the 20 Steps To happiness
De-clutter your life. If you haven't used/worn/noticed you owned/not known what something is for, for 6 months or more get rid/throw away/sell/donate to charity/give to a friend who would love it. This will then free up space for you to obtain something wonderful that you do want, will use/wear/play/listen to/read/sit on etc.
20 Steps to Happiness - Get Rid of Clutter
. . and why not turn it into a profit?
STEP 18 of the 20 Steps To happiness
Write a list of things that really make you happy and try to re-introduce them into your life. Remember this is a list of things that make YOU happy, don't try to make other people happy, they do that for themselves. Read your list every day, add to it, change it, but keep doing it.
20 Steps To Happiness ~ Do What Makes YOU Happy

STEP 19 of the 20 Steps To happiness
Always focus on what you do want and never on what you don't. Imagine you have a little pixie/fairy/god/goddess/badger that is around you at all times listening in on your thoughts and as soon as it hears a want it goes to sort out getting that thought to you, the only problem being it only hears the word WANT and cannot differentiate between do & don't. So always think positively eg
"Wouldn't it be great if I had a fantastic day at work"
off it pops to get you a fantastic day at work or
"wouldn't it be superb if I owned an Overfinched Range Rover*"
(*other dream cars are available that is just mine!)
So off it goes again to get your dream car.
Keep away from the negative listings ie
"I don't want another bill"
as off your little dream maker will go to make sure that another bill is there. Or
"I don't want this car it's awful"
your dream maker has just heard you say "want this awful car", so off it goes on its quest for a car with no wheels.
STEP 20 of the 20 Steps To happiness
Sing out loud. Find your favourite song and sing your little heart out.
20 Steps To Happiness . . and sing, sing, sing, wiggle wiggle

- Hi Cathi,
I would like to thank you for visiting and commenting on my lens on the Greek debt. Actually, it is rather a nightmare than a dream.
I find your mentality very cheerful and creative. I also believe that happiness does not fall from the sky, but that it is built with patience, perseverance and hope.
