Island of Dr. Moreau, Time Machine, War of the Worlds, and Invisible Man--From H.G. Wells' Amazing Imagination!

Some of the first books I read when in Junior High--and those that kept me awake at night turning pages--were from the imagination of H.G. Wells.  His fascinating stories are well-written, well thought out, and have excellent plots and settings.

What kid hasn't read H.G. Wells' book, The Time Machine and hasn't had nightmares of the Eloy and the Morlock

I read H.G.Wells' story, The Island of Dr. Moreau, and from then on, had a different perspective when walking through the jungles and rain forests of Guam.

Wells' book War of the World also gave me the creeps--but in an exciting way.

H.G. Wells on the Silver Screen!

Many of my memories of H.G. Wells' books were re-ignited when I watched movies based on his books. I've seen two or three versions of "War of the Worlds", at least two versions of "The Time Machine", and two versions of "The Island of Dr. Moreau". I've also seen at least three versions of "The Invisible Man".

His books are great--movies based on his books are thrillers!

About the same time I was devouring jules Verne, I was also feasting on H. G. Wells. I read the book and watched the old movie, The War of the Worlds and shivered. I watched The Invisible Man movie on Shock Theater in the 50s and felt the thrill. My favorite was The Time Machine. I read it more than once.

Living on Guam is what now "defines" me.  It was such a dramatic difference in my life and outlook on things that there's no way I'd be the same...
