Saturday Morning Television will never be the same.

HR. Pufnstuf was the first in a long line of Saturday morning  live-action puppet shows created and produced for Television by  Sid & Marty Krofft

Jimmy played by Jack Wild begins on a river bank playing with his gold flute Freddy and is beckoned to board a mysteries yet adventure inviting boat.  Evil witch wichipoo casts a evil spell over the boat and jimmy escapes by swimming to a nearby island. He is rescued by the mayor  HR Pufnstuff, the adventures begin and 17 eposodes later unravelled a plethora of situations involving talking trees and animals including a vulture.

Jack whom played Jimmy died in 2006 he was discovered in the 60s by  talent agent June Collins mum of Phil solo singer and drummer for rock group Genisis. Jack was also the star of the movie Oliver.Like most child actors Jack failed to find the sucess  later in life.

The person who played HR Pufnstuf (Van Snowden) did not play the voice, that was Lennie Wienrib.

Interesting to know that Mcdonalds was unsucessfull in a lawsuit against the owners of HR Pufnstuf. The Mcdonaldland charactors were there first, according to the Big M were not based on the HR pufnstuf charactors. Sorry M there is somethings in the world you cant have.

In the 70s a feature film appeared. It appealled to the youth culture at the time and crossed a fine line between childrens show and almost adult entertainment. It is viewed by many as relevent to the late 60s drug culture with many references subliminally made throughout see Puff and Stuff

Love your site. Love Pufnstuf! Too bad that kids in England are taught to smoke at such an early age or Jack would still be with us today. Jack Wild said that he started smoking when he was 8 years old. Thanks for the Puf Stuff!
