Ranked #13,263 in Entertainment, #148,266 overall
Who Does Not Remember Hair?
What caused Hair the Musical to become one of the World's best known plays?
* Timing: The subject of the play involved hippies, drugs, Vietnam, protest and defience. Very important topics for the day.
* Music: The songs were great. Four topped the charts and became standards (Aquarius, Starshine, Easy to Be Hard as well as the Theme song "Hair").
* Controversy: Some loved it, others hated it. Bombs were thrown, it was protested. Doesn't controversy make any form of art memorable?
* THE NUDE SCENE: Yes, at the end of the first Act of hair, the actors were fully nude. For a few seconds before the lights went out. But there they were. And many actors who went on to become famous (Tim Curry, Donna Summer, Ben Vereen) participated.
