Hallowe-en

Putting some hallowe-en back in Halloween...
I undertake this from a contemporary, individualistic shamanic perspective, that connects with the universe through the neighborhoods of my life, a shamanism I innovate that is indirectly connected with many sources and influences, but not a part of any other new, ancient, alternative, esoteric, aboriginal or mainstream religion or tradition.
On purpose, I am publishing the lens unfinished, because it cannot be completed until this Halloween season that raucously, yet reverently, opens the dark half of the year winds down into winter's days of deeper dreaming and storying.
Modules will fill in gradually as my Hallowe-en 2010 experience unfolds. I will keep updating as insights and brainstorms come, next Halloween and whenever.
So revisit, now and then, to see what's new. I hope you also visit my Halloween Story lens (and vote for a direction), where I am gradually telling the story of the extended shamanic dreaming and imagining journey to the ancestors I am adventuring now.

Spider dangles many possibilities...
For hallowing the beings, places & events...
Shrines and altars are one way of consecrating space and time on Halloween to the many ancestral energy flows always weaving into reality's currrent patterns.
Spiritual and religious traditions provide powerful ways of commemorating predecessors.
Within a circle of spirit and spirits dancing around this purpose, I am innovating my own set-up, beyond any direct historical or spiritual lineage, though many have inspired me.
Also: I am undertaking a long shamanic journey to reconnect with buried, unacknowledged dreams and possibilities that still return to haunt me -- most noticeably during every year's darker days.
I hope you visit and vote for a journey direction in the poll on the Halloween Story lens.
Happy Hallowe-en and SquidBOO season...
To one and ALL!
I am meditating on the ancestors...

- Witchvox -- You Call It Hallowe'en...We Call It Samhain
- Hallowe'en has its origins in the British Isles. While the modern tradition of trick or treat developed in the U. S., it too is based on folk customs brought to this country with Irish immigrants after 1840. Since ancient times in Ireland, Scotland, and England, October 31st has been celebrated as a feast for the dead, and also the day that marks the new year. Mexico observes a Day of the Dead on this day, as do other world cultures. In Scotland, the Gaelic word "Samhain" (pronounced "SAW-win" or "SAW-vane") means literally "summer's end...
- The Traditions of Halloween
- It is believed that the origins of Halloween may probably be found in an ancient, pre-Christian Celtic festival which honored the dead. The Celts divided their year into four major holidays and, according to this calendar, the year began on a day which now corresponds to November 1 on the modern calendar...
