2008 Halloween Harvest Festival - Vendor Highlights

The 3rd Annual Halloween Harvest Festival at the Redwood Acres Fairgrounds, October 18 & 19th almost wasn't - but we are glad that it was, despite the problems encountered this year. Kleppin's Wooden Kitchen was one of the vendors for 2008 - it was our first participation in this event.

Many thanks to the organizer of this event, Alice Krause of Eureka, who also organizes another event in the spring at this location.

I hope you enjoy meeting the vendors through this lens - although they are all Pacific Northwest based, I am certain they would ALL welcome contact if you have questions or would like to place an order. Many of these vendors do not have a web presence, and some don't even have e-mail, so unless you were to come to an event, chances are you'd never get to see what they can do.

101 Cafe & Candles

Christine's booth had some of the BEST aromas from the event! I wish I had some better photos to show you; her items were lovely and appeared to be quite popular.

Here's where you can find these yummy creations:

I tell you what, these pet treats made my mouth water!

Pamela Atteberry - CandleWealth International

~ Making a difference, One Natural Soy Candle at a Time ~

Pamela didn't have many candles left by the time I got to her booth - my guess is that people recognized the benefits of soy candles as gifts and were snatching them up in a buying frenzy!

There are many reasons why soy is a good candle base; here are a few reasons that help answer the question "Why Soy?"

~ Soy is 100% non-toxic and all-natural, derived from vegetables, rather than paraffin which comes from petroleum.

~ Soy and natural vegetable waxes are biodegradable & create less soot than paraffin.

~ Soy and natural vegetable waxes are water-soluble; they clean up easily with just soap and water.

~ Soy and natural vegetable wax candles burn cleanly and last at least 35% longer.

~ Fragrances released from soy and natural vegetable wax candles last longer and have a greater scent throw.

~ Soy and natural vegetable wax candles support the American farmer, rather than the foreign oil industry.

Joseph Warda - Photography

Had an interesting conversation with Joseph about this photo - I drove past this barge for years and years, watching it fall into disrepair. I said that I know exactly where it is, and he told me I knew exactly where it WAS, because it was gone now, but that this was still one of his best selling images. I can see why - it's a really elegant capture.

Matt Garrett - Crystal Bound

This was the LARGEST crystal I had EVER seen!

This shot puts it into perspective a little better:

Quilts and Fabric Arts

I am not sure who did what, but both ladies are extremely talented and my photos really didn't show the high quality and beauty of what they do. Their work is awesome!

Kathryn's booth surprised me

Kathryn's booth was popular during this event - you actually went behind a curtain for your private consultation. I didn't get a photo of her booth for this lens, however, because right before I got there with my camera there was a spill of liquid that caused her to have to remove most of her decorations. I thought her booth still looked cool enough to share, but she was embarrassed by the change, and so I settled for a shot of her sign. I hope she's at the festival next year - I will make a point of getting a photo EARLY in the festival.
