Hi! I'm Michael from MyWonderfulWalls.com
After painting your baby nursery or kids room mural you might want to add a personalized touch. Painting your child's name with personalized wall letters is the perfect way to finalize a room. In this video I'm going to show you a super easy way to hand paint kids wall letters. I promise you that by the end of this video, you will have the confidence to do this yourself. Also, on our website, I will supply you with lots of sayings and words, that go along with our nursery mural themes that you might also consider painting.
Today, I'm going to be painting the name Audrey. I've chosen my font and, for purposes of this demonstration, I've printed this out on a tabloid sheet of paper. Now most people will be printing on letter or legal size, which is fine. And if you want really large letters, then print out one letter per page. You can do this with any word-processing or graphic software.
You'll need: a small, flat-head brush (this one is about ΒΌ inch); painters tape; acrylic paint (I'm using a violet shade); and finally you'll need one of these three things, either a very soft pencil (8B works best), some chalk which many parents have in their craft box, or a pastel stick.
First, turn your letters over. I'm going to be using the pastel stick. I actually recommend a light color, but so you can easily see what I'm doing, I've chosen a navy blue. Rub your medium of choice on the back on the paper making sure you completely cover where the letters are. And, like I said, you can use chalk or a really soft pencil. I just find pastel to be the easiest.
Tap off any excess residue.
Now, I'm just going to tape it in place.
Use a ball point pen to trace all the edges of each letter. Be sure to get all the inner and outer edges.
When you pull off the paper you'll have a transfer of your letters.
Now, just paint them in.
After your paint dries, you may need to wipe off any pastel or chalk residue. Since I was using a dark pastel for this presentation I definitely have a little to wipe off.
Once it's clean just touch it up with a little paint.
And here it is%u2026beautiful hand painted personalized wall letters. See how simple that was to paint decorative wall letters for nursery? And like our mural kits, there is no artistic skill required. Anyone can do it!
