It looks like the Hannah Montana costume may be the number one Halloween costume for young girls this year. That's because the Hannah Montana TV series, music, and concerts are so popular right now. And if you pile on top of that the anticipation of Hannah Montana: The Movie and the Miley Cyrus autobiography due out in the spring, Hannah Montana mania is in full swing.

It's no wonder the Hannah Montana costume is in such high demand this Halloween.

Not sure who Hannah Montana is?

Hannah Montana is an extremely popular TV series that debuted in March 2006 on the Disney Channel. It's about a teenage girl that leads a double life. During the day she's Miley Stewart, a normal everyday teenager, but at night she transforms into Hannah Montana, a famous pop star. Her true identity is kept secret from the public though. The only ones that know are her family and few close friends.

Hannah Montana and Miley Stewart are both played by Miley Ray Cyrus (born Destiny Hope Cyrus), the daughter of famous country singer, Billy Ray Cyrus. She originally auditioned for the part when she was 12 years old, but Disney executives said she was too small. She wasn't taking no for an answer though, and she kept bugging them. Finally she was called back for a few additional auditions, and she won them over.

Strangely enough, later she had to interview her real-life dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, for the role of her father on the show. He must have won her over as well because he got the job.

Miley Cyrus / Hannah Montana has also become quite the pop singing sensation. It all started when she sang eight songs from the show on a soundtrack CD that was released in October 2006. Then, on June 23, 2007, she released her own debut album, Meet Miley Cyrus. Her next album, Breakout, came out July 22, 2008. This album was the first one done totally outside the Hannah Montana franchise. Both of her albums went to #1 on the Billboard 200.

Her concerts are unbelievably popular. She sells every one of them out almost immediately, with scalpers getting thousands of dollars per ticket once they're sold out. With tickets being that hard to come by, getting tickets to one of her shows has become quite a status symbol. Many movie stars, celebrities, and even governors show up at her concerts with their kids.

It's no wonder the Hannah Montana costume has become so popular this year. If you're planning on picking one up for yourself or your daughter, you'd better shop early. They'll be going quick.
