What's Your Story?

The Harry Potter world is buzzing with excitement about the surprise release of a 800word short story by JK Rowling.
Set in the 1970's, 3 years before Harry Potter was born, it was written as a submission to a collection of short stories published by Waterstones in aid of Dyslexia Action to mark the National Year of Reading.
Only 10,000 copies were published and Waterstones have stated that no further copies would be printed. All but a handful sold out on the first day of sale at £5 each with copies limited to 2 per customer.

From The Prequel I Am Not Working On!

- J.K. Rowling Stated!

This story first appeared in public when the handwritten and signed copy sold for £25,000 at a charity auction at Waterstone's in July 2008. It also contained the words - "From the prequel I am not working on - but that was fun!" and the authors signature, dated May 2008.
This auction also had the other handwritten submissions to the book by the other authors involved.

The Most Collectable Harry Potter?

Possibly! If you discount the handwritten and signed manuscripts and the first 7 copies of Beedle The Bard, this print run of only 10,000 copies will surely be highly sought after by Harry Potter fans and collectors.
As yet, few copies have appeared on ebay so we will have to see how much fans are willing to pay for a copy.

What's The Story?

Also Containing.......

It must also be remembered that other authors contributed to this book of short stories, entitled 'What's The Story?', and you will find works by Doris Lessing, Neil Gaiman, Michael Rosen, Nick Hornby, Sebastian Faulks, Lauren Child, Tom Stoppard, Irvine Welsh, Axel Scheffler, Margaret Atwood, Richard Ford and Lisa Appignanesi.
Though the inclusion of the Harry Potter Prequel is surely the part that will have people bidding record amounts for!

gotta send this lens link to my little cousins, they're obsessed with HP! :) also have a look at a bit i just posted on my page - http://www.squidoo.com/author_influences - about Rowling's favourite books as a kid (and now) and the ones that influenced her as a writer the most. After researching all of that, I think I'm gonna have to go to the library now and hunt some of those books down! Very curious about them...

I didn't even know about this one. I have a collectors copy of Beedle the Bard - unfortunately not one of the signed ones though
