My Review Of Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness
I have enjoyed playing all of the games in the Harvest Moon series on Nintendo DS. I didn't play the ones on the Game Cube or Wii, because I have never had those systems. If you have played any of the previous games, you will also like this one. You will still like this game if you like a long running Farm Simulation style RPG.
The story starts with you traveling on a ship and a storm comes up and you end up washed up on shore of a deserted island with a family. There are some buildings you fix up and end up starting a ranch/farm.
As you progress through the game, you will unlock new characters that show up. Some will stay all the time and some come and go. As your funds progress you will be able to fix up different things around the island and on your ranch that will allow for more parts of the game to be unlocked.
You don't just tend your crops and animals in this game. You will also need to set aside some time to interact with the villagers. If you don't some of them may move away. You will also be able to eventually marry and have a child a bit later in the game.
This game is played entirely with the stylus, so it does take a bit to get used to. It took me a while to figure out how to put down the chickens when moving them and how to set down the wood and stone when building a fence. Once I got that down, it was easy!
I hope you enjoy playing this game as much as I have!

- I'm a super-huge fan of the Harvest Moon games, but I haven't given this one a shot yet. Have you ever tried the Rune Factory games? I don't think they're quite as charming, but the have some roleplaying (as in fighting monsters) tossed in along with the usual farming.

- I've only played them on the Wii (and SNES, years ago). :) I'm debating which one to pick up for my DS so I had to come check out your review. This would be great featured on my Harvest Moon Games hub, too. I'll add that now.
