However, to have success in a marriage doesn't necessarily mean learning better speaker/listener techniques. This might only teach you how to fight and argue more diplomatically.

It may have taken years for your marriage to reach its current situation; maybe not. Either way, the deterioration of your marriage did not happen overnight and patience will be tested while reparations are being made.
My point is that just as your relationship developed as you fell in love, your marriage needs to process the variables of your relationship to re-develop into the love that you have when you got married.

Depending on whom you talk with and when you talk with them, you would get several different colorful answers. Going back to the beginning, it really all depends on how much time you are able to devote to making the repairs in your marriage.
Having dealt with this, first hand, I have had my experiences with counselors and other programs to successfully solve marriage problems. One thing that IS for sure, there has to be a plan. This is not something that will go away if left alone!
