Show your gratitude for what you have and you will find that you have arrived.
We live in a society where we're conditioned to always be striving for more; for bigger and better things.
When do we ever arrive at a happy place? Do we arrive there today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year? Hopefully, by reading this lens; you'll start to recognize the things in your life that you do have and are able to enjoy. I think, it's important to take the time to acknowledge the things in our lives that bring us joy.
Also, there is a saying that whatever you think about expands. My theory is that by focusing on the things that we are grateful for on a regular basis; is that we attract more things to be grateful for.
I've found that by having an attitude of gratitude, I can enjoy the abundance that surrounds me.
The more that I'm grateful for what I have, the more I can appreciate life in the present moment. The more I live in the present moment, the greater I can build the stepping stones for a great future. I've also found that by having an attitude of gratitude; that I'm more focused on the solutions, than the problems. So, it's important to remember the power of gratitude.
Here are some things that I'm grateful for

The ability to walk and talk
The ability to read and write
I have a roof over my head
I have food to eat and a place to sleep
I have all of my limbs
Specific material possessions
I can type
I know how to use the internet
All of the good fortune that comes my way

I am healthy
I'm able to have insight and knowledge
I know how to troubleshoot the computer
I know how to install software on the hard drive
I can see and hear
I'm sober
I don't smoke anymore
I can write creatively
I'm able to have a positive influence on the world around me
I can write poetry
I can write stories.
What's this whole gratitude thing?
Gratitude:
What is it?
Gratitude, thankfulness, or appreciation is a positive emotion or attitude in acknowledgment of a benefit that one has received or will receive. The experience of gratitude has historically been a focus of several world religions, Emmons, R. A., & Crumpler, C. A. (2000). Gratitude as a human strength: Appraising the evidence. Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology, 19, 56-69 and has been considered extensively by moral philosophers such as Adam Smith.Smith, A. (1790/1976). The Theory of Moral Sentiments (6th ed.). Indianapolis, IN: Liberty Classics. (Original work published 1790). The systematic study of gratitude within psychology only began around the year 2000, possibly because psychology has traditionally been focused more on understanding distress rather than understanding positive emotions. However, with the advent of the positive psychology movement, Linley, P. A., Joseph, S., Harrington, S., & Wood, A. M. (2006). Positive psychology: Past, present, and (possible) future.The...

Of having an attitude of gratitude
![]()
I'm finding that the effects of having an attitude of gratitude are positive. I'm finding myself being more focused and in tune with the world around me. My mind is less prone to worry or fear and I'm more focused on solutions. As I continue to write my daily gratitude list, I'm finding that I actually have more things to be grateful for than I ever thought of before. This opens my mind up to the abundance in the universe. As I become more aware of the abundance around me, even more abundance is attracted to me. Through expressing gratitude for what I have, I become like a magnet attracting more things to be grateful for.

Attitude with gratitude
Benefits

I must take the time to list some of the benefits of having an attitude with gratitude. One of the things is that you never have to be depressed ever again. If you are always focused on the good things that you have and are doing; then, you don't have time to be depressed or feel bad.
Right to the bitter end...

When will the bands start playing in my honor? In my own head, they already have. Aren't you glad you're not me? See, I've just given you one more thing to be grateful for. I'll go ahead and give myself a pat on the back for a job well done on that one. Thank you very much.
The way it works
Gratitude...

I'm finding out that by being in a constant state of gratitude; the things that I have to be grateful for, are growing by leaps and bounds. I do a daily gratitude list and it always seems to get bigger. I wouldn't be surprised if one day it filled up a whole book.
GRATITUDE IS AWESOME
It really is...
When being grateful for something; I find that I have to be grateful for it on a heart felt level. I can't just say," oh yeah, I'm grateful for it," and then the magic happens; it doesn't work that way. I find that the daily gratitude journal is very helpful. It makes me think about all of the good things that I do have in my life right now, which puts me in the mindset of abundance. And thus, I think that my mind works like a magnet and attracts more good things. When being grateful, I start with the simple stuff first, like walking, talking, reading, writing, sunny days, the ability to see and hear; and then I go on from there.
Are you taking things for granted?
Don't take anything for granted
And I do mean anything

One thing that I think is important when doing a gratitude journal, don't take anything for granted. What I mean is, start with the simple things like walking and talking, reading and writing, the ability to see and hear. Then, move on from there.

- Great lens. I do prefer 'appreciation' to 'gratitude' though. I can express appreciation for anything and everything but 'being grateful' (for me) implies I am in someone's debt or that I am 'less than'. Hard to explain but Esther does it well on the Youtube vid above. 5*s
