I'll never forget the first time our family was hit - my son has ASD and getting him to allow me to pick through his head was torture! Something that I think will go a long way to successfully treat head lice is some simple, solid information that helps to demystify this whole thing. But most important of all is practice, patience, and persistence. You CAN do this easily, at home, without a lot of bother and expense. I offer services at my clients' homes, but more and more, I show up just to train families on how to cope. If you check out my blog (http://www.nitwitseattle.com/blog), you'll be well on your way to finding the reassurance you need to treat your family's head live on your own. Good luck!

    Great blog!

Most parents don't realize that OTC lice treatments can be harmful to their children!

Pesticide based lice shampoos are full of chemicals that are known or suspected to cause cancer, negatively affect the nervous system, or have other harmful effects. The scalp is one of the most absorbent parts of the body ? especially in children, and products that are applied to the scalp get picked up directly by the bloodstream, without being filtered in any way. That means that these harmful chemicals are being put directly into their child's system.

Where did that head lice came from? Is there any way to stop them? coz it's kind of annoying when they are living on you, your scalp will be itchy and sometimes you can't concentrate on your works. The most things are when I was in a meeting and in front of my co investors I scratch my head and I can't stop it coz it's so itchy is there any quick head lice treatment that can help me with it.

Can head lice survive if they have not been exposed to hair/scalp/skin for a while?

Lice are very hard to see -- if your scalp is insanely itchy, look for bites where the itch is. that may be an easier way to identify head lice.
