The Health Benefits of Noni Juice

The health benefits of Noni Juice produced from the noni plant (Morinda Citrifolia) have been well known by the Polynesians for more than 2,000 years.

Captain James Cook recorded its use in Tahiti in the late 1700s and a British book published in 1866 recorded that the Noni fruit was eaten in the Cook Islands.

What Are the Health Benefits of Noni Juice ?

Although all parts of the Noni plant are used by the Polynesians, its best known and most widely used benefits in the modern world are derived from the Noni Juice which is extracted from the Noni fruit.

The world's authority on Noni, Dr Neil Solomon, has spent a decade studying the health benefits of Noni Juice. In the four books which he has published, he details all the enormous range of benefits of Noni Juice. In particular, he refers to high blood pressure, cancer, arthritis and chronic pain being the most common and debilitating conditions known to man and how Noni Juice cures or contributes significantly to curing these ailments.

He also describes the extensive modern day research on Noni Juice and provides countless testimonials regarding the health benefits of Noni Juice. For example, he reports on a survey conducted on more than 25,000 Noni Juice drinkers which was collected from 1,227 doctors and health professionals. The benefits listed included, but were not restricted to, cures for allergy, arthritis, asthma, cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome, cholesterol, fibromyalgia, depression, diabetes 1 & 2, digestions, enlarged prostrate, heart disease, high blood pressure, immune system, kidney disease, pain, respiratory problems, skin disorders, sleeplessness, stress, Parkinson's Disease, multiple sclerosis and even assisting people to give up smoking.

The leaves of the Noni plant are known to relieve gout pain and act as a tonic and as a healer of wounds and ulcers. Doctors in ancient India used all parts of the Noni plant for medicinal purposes and it is well known for the same beneficial effects in countries as far flung as Burma, Fiji and Australia (especially amongst the Aborigines). In Africa, the health benefits include being used to cure malaria, fever, jaundice, yellow fever and dysentery.

What Have been the Health Benefits of Noni Juice for Me ?

These are the Health Benefits of Noni Juice which I have noticed

When I was personally diagnosed as a Coeliac with an intolerance to gluten I was referred to a leading gastroenterologist. Three endoscopies later, all that he had offered me was two referrals to dieticians. Despite sticking rigidly to the diets presented and feeling a bit better through the diet, my gastroenterologist could only tell me that my vili was not recovering and my condition appeared to be getting worse. His only advice was to continue with the gluten free diet.

My Galah and She-Who Must-be Obeyed had benefited significantly from the use of Noni Juice so I decided to give it a try. A couple of weeks later, I suddenly realised how much more zest I had and how much more alert I was in my daily life. At my next endoscopy the gastroenterologist was stunned at the improvement in my condition. He had no explanation for it and questioned me about my dietary changes. When I confirmed that I was being just as strict on the diet as I was before but had now added Noni Juice as a supplement, he could only shake his head in wonderment.

He clearly studied up on the topic because the next time I saw him he was an expert on Noni Juice and mentioned that he now recommended it for struggling Coeliacs as he had only found health benefits without any side effects in its use.

Tahitian, Hawaiian or Cook Islands Noni Juice. Is There a Difference? Part 1

The fruit from which Noni Juice is made is grown in the Pacific Islands so any reference to Tahitian Noni Juice or Hawaiian Noni Juice or Cook Islands Noni Juice is really a reference to an identical product but not exactly the same thing. It is a bit like wine.

Every bottle of Bordeaux Chardonnay has the same basic ingredients because it is made from the same variety of fruit. However, the taste of each bottle is slightly different between the particular vineyards, within different land areas of the same vineyard and even from the same vines but between different seasons. Thus Noni Juice from Tahiti, Hawaii or Cook Islands will still contain the same basic ingredients, being made from the same variety of Noni fruit, but the taste will be slightly different.

Humans are used to taking medicines and medicines often taste dreadful. Didn't your Mom always tell you that "the more horrible it tastes, the better it is for you" ? Mine certainly did. And I still cringe at the sight of a bottle of castor oil. Yuk!! It follows that humans have very little problem taking Noni Juice as a medicine and that a slightly different taste is not a problem for them because it is a medicine.

Tahitian, Hawaiian or Cook Islands Noni Juice. Is There a Difference? Part 2

Now this is not the case where people adapt an acquired taste for a particular brand of Noni Juice. Just as much as people become connoisseurs of wines and have a preference for one Chardonnay over another, so do people prefer the taste of one Noni Juice over another. That is why the Noni Juice producers of the Tahitian, Hawaiian and Cook Islands varieties brand their products differently. As long as the Noni Juice is pure and not diluted or contaminated, the ingredients and medicinal effects are the same but slightly different tastes appeal to people differently.

And if you think that people are fussy, you should try our Galah (Rose-Breasted Cockatoo). We started him on the Cook Islands Noni Juice and, whilst he was not initially impressed with taking his medicine, he developed an acquired taste for it. Now that he has settled down, he climbs the drawer handles in the kitchen and waits impatiently by the sink for his twice daily ration. If it doesn't come quick enough for his liking, he walks on the spot rapidly and calls out "Noni come. Noni come".

At one time, we forget to order his Cook Islands Noni Juice so purchased a bottle of Tahitian Noni Juice from a local shop. And, boy, did he create a fuss. Straight away, he spat it out forcefully and tried to wriggle out of our hands and run away. Now there is nothing wrong with the Tahitian Noni Juice but this bird KNEW the difference and he wasn't having any of it. We had to hold him firmly but gently and squirt it into his twisting mouth. "This is only medicine, son. Think of it as castor oil. The worse it tastes, the better it is for you."

The arrival of his "personal" brand of Noni Juice was a relief to us all.

I have heard of Noni Juice before, but not tried it. Shame, I should have when I was in Tahiti! We eat a lot of natural foods, and these are a lot better for you. It's strange how more primitive societies are more aware of natural health products than we who are supposed to be more advanced don't you think. Good information, I must try Noni Juice some time.

I can relate to the mention about your galah. My cat was a real nut case before. She is now a lot calmer and under control. I give her noni juice every day and she likes it.
