Do You Make Healthy Eating Choices?

We all make our choices about what we eat, do you make the right choices?

After a year long bout with cancer with the removal of half my lung and another surgery removing 18 inches of my intestines, I learned that I had to make the right choices about eating healthy.

It's really not hard, you know what you should eat and what you shouldn't eat. It's all about the choices we make and making the right ones about the nutrition, vitamins and minerals that we put into our bodies. Hey don't eat that donut!!!!

But knowing and doing are two very different things.

What is Healthy Eating?

We have all learned from childhood about the four basic food groups and their importance in our diets, somewhere along the way we've forgotten those lessons.

The key to healthy eating is choosing to eat a wide variety of foods without getting too many calories to much of any one food group. The "Food Pyramid" has also been updated to keep up with today's lifestyle.

We know we shouldn't have that extra piece of cake. We know we should eat small portions and eat 5-6 small meals a day. We know what foods to avoid and what foods to eat.

Sometimes we just need a little motivation to get us going.
