So for those of us who have resorted to cooking for our canine buddies we must take into consideration the differences in our dog's nutritional needs, so we may prepare for them healthy and balanced meals.
Healthy Homemade Dog Food Recipes Require These Three Nutritional Considerations...
Almost any food is better than manufactured dog foods, but you must think of the following:
Dogs need a fairly large percentage of protein in their diets, there are many fine sources including meat, beef, pork and poultry, fish, and even dairy sources, such as cheese and cottage cheese.Another inportant requirement in a dog's diet would be Essential Fatty Acids. One of the most important fatty acids, which our dog friends can't produce themselves is Omega 6 fatty acids, or Linoleic Acid from sources such as fish oil, vegetable oils, grains, vegetables and certain fruits
Another nutritional ingredient important to a dog's health is calcium. Our Dog buddies actually need quite a bit more calcium than we do.
Some fine examples of sources of calcium for dogs could be animal bones and calcium supplements dirived from vegetable sources.
Avoid Using These Ingredients In You Healthy Homemade Dog Food Recipes
Although most foods are fine for our dogs, some ingredients should be avoided;
Here are some of the foods you should avoid when preparing homemade dog food recipes for your dog.Onions, which contain thiosulfates can cause a condition known as Haemolytic anaemia, or anemia, in dogs. even though it would take a fairly large quantity to produce these serious unhealthy effects, your pet would be better off without any onions in the homemade recipes you create for her.
Garlic on the other hand can be very helpful in many ways to your dogs health and has been used in "holistic" dog diet therapies for many many years.
But raisins and grapes, chocolate and cocoa products can also be poisonous to our canine buddies in large quantities.
