Grow Your Own Herbs--Indoor and Outdoor Herb Gardens
Herbs have been used for thousands of years and are still used everyday in everyone's life whether it's realized or not. Herbs are used in many health based products as well as the every day meal. I consciously choose herbs to spice my meals and make my teas because they contribute to my health. On this lens you will find a list of common herbs and their uses as well as places to obtain these herbs.
When planting an outdoor garden--February is the time to start planning and March is the time to start planting. To prepare your garden for the spring seeds, make sure that you condition the earth. This should be done at least for 2-3 months before you plant. To do this, break up the ground where you intend to plant. Spread compost over the area and water it. Place a dark plastic bag over the area (like a thick garbage ); you can put rocks around it to hold it down. After about a week, you will see a definite improvement in your gardening area. The ground will become richer and more pliable. Turn the earth, put more compost down and cover it. After about a month--you will have some of the richest and fertile earth to plant in. You should especially do this during the rainy season. The water will help the nutrients to soak into the earth even with the plastic covering it.
All of these herbs can be grown indoor and mostly year round. There are cheap books available that will give you a lot of information about this on this lens.

Açaí Berry-- contains vitamin B1, B2, B3, vitamin E, vitamin C, phosphorus, calcium, potassium, fiber, proteins, and good fatty acids into small volumes of fruit. Açaí can be used to fight and regulate cholesterol levels in the body
Aloe Vera-- known for its healing abilities, is an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and restorative, helps repair skin that has been damaged or that is suffering from a skin condition like eczema, can also be made into a juice where it is used to aid in digestion, ease muscular conditions and allergies.
Astragalus--is useful for strengthening the body against viral infections of the respiratory tract and heart
Basil-- is a carminative and disinfectant. Makes a stimulating and refreshing tea.
Bugbane-- is useful for hot flashes, vaginal dryness
Borage -- promotes healthy circulation, eases common PMS symptoms, beneficial for improving the symptoms of acne, eczema, and psoriasis
Boswellia-- is an anti-inflammatory agent
