Herbalife was founded in 1980 by Mark Hughes who subsequently died several years later at the age of 44. They now have over 1.5 million distributors worldwide.
The opportunity is standard MLM Structure. You pay a startup cost to become a distributor and then you can begin placing people underneath you by holding product parties, often for your family and friends.
Not a bad start up cost, but its time to get the facts on the compensation. 85% of Herbalife's wealth comes from 1% of the distributors. That would mean that the other 99% of the 1.5 million distributors are fighting to make up that 15%.
The majority of distributors, as in any MLM structure will drop out within 90 days as they will not be able to turn a profit on the small margins on each product.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Herbalife products are on average about 30% more than a comparable product in the store.
So is Herbalife a scam? No. Herbalife is a legitimate company and is spread throughout the world. That being said it still may not be the best money making opportunity for you.
When looking to find a business that is best suited for you, find a product you can get behind, a compensation plan that sets you up to win and a system that encourages mentorship. Without there three key pieces, you will be setting yourself up to fail.
Good Luck Out there
