The Best of Antique Heriz Rugs

Heriz is a region in Persia that produced some of the most popular rugs in the market today. Traditionally Antique Heriz Rugs were made in three grades. The best grade was the Bakshaish Rug. They had a short nap and were the finest of the Heriz rugs. But even as the finest they were under 100 knots per square inch. The middle grade was called Serapi or less commonly Serapi. The pile was a little longer and the weave a little coarser. The low-end of the market was sold as Gorevan. Knot counts could be as low as 25 knots per square in and the pile was long. These distinctions mean little today. The most important part is how pretty the rug is and is it in good condition.
