Hershey's Kisses were first introduced in 1907. Their well known wrapping didn't debut until 1921. That's when the famous little plume was added as well. They had their 100th birthday on July 7, 2007 and are certainly an American Classic.

Did you Know?
- Kisses are made with machines that drop just the right amount of chocolate onto a conveyor belt. It's not known exactly how Kisses got their name, but one theory is that they were named for the sound and motion of those machines.
- Hershey's makes more than 80 million KISSES Brand Chocolates every day at its chocolate factories in Pennsylvania, California and Virginia.
- Variations called Sweethearts, Silver Tops, and Silverpoints were produced in the early 1900s.
- Hershey's Kisses were not manufactured between 1942 and 1949 due to the rationing of silver foil during and after World War II.
- It takes about 95 Hershey's Kisses to equal one pound of chocolate.
- The longest ever consecutive string of Hershey's Kisses was more than four miles long! It was created to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network at Penn State Children's Hospital.
- The World's Largest Hershey's Kiss weighed 30,540 pounds. It was made for their 100th birthday celebration in Hershey, PA.

We used to be able to see Hershey's chocolate being made in one of the Central California towns, but the factory was closed and operations moved to Mexico. :( I don't eat them much these days because I am focusing on Chocolate that is at least 70% cocoa.
