Thyroid, insulin, and blood pressure are all interrelated. Cutting out sugar has seemed to help my BP.

Excellent points, It is usually wise to start low and work your way up. Also, let your doctor know what supplements you take and are planning on taking.

I'd like to add a caution if I may. The products mentioned above do indeed help your blood pressure but anything that strengthens the heart will raise your blood pressure if you start out taking too large a dose. I tried the cayenne pepper and hawthorn berry and I take CoQ10 regularly but I started out using too much cayenne (drinking it as a hot tea) and it raised my blood pressure. Vitamin E is also supposed to lower blood pressure but you have to start low and work up VERY slowly.

This is a very informative lens. I have been using natural methods of treatment for several years now. I have been using Thai-Go. This fruit juice blend has made some major fixes in many of my health issues including high blood pressure. I cannot sing it's praises enough.

Interesting lens Jeff. Thanks! When my bp got to 185/110 in my early thirties, I went to see a Chinese herbalist, and within three weeks, involving herbs and acupuncture, I was back to 130/84. The herbalist told me bananas and celery are good foods for helping to reduce hypertension. Thanks for the cayenne info. Didn't know that!

These are great tips, thank you for sharing them. I had high blood pressure many years ago, while pregnant, and changing my diet and resting, kept it low with No drugs. I've never had high blood pressure or high cholesterol and take a multivitamin supplement every day.

Excellent recommendations. I would emphasize though the importance of proper hydration. A technique I was taught about a year ago is to drink six glasses of water (it's difficult when you are starting!) first thing in the morning. Then wait about 45 minutes or an hour (while you are getting ready) to eat or drink anything else. Then continue drinking clean pure water the rest of the day as normal. This technique stimulates all the internal organs and brings them rapidly to prime condition. You will feel the difference in a few days. Also another tip is to take ice cold showers. It will feel you with super energy and also make you sleep better at night.

That is scary when it gets that high, I take 2 tsps of fish oil a day and that makes a big difference for me.
  • fivetexans Apr 15, 2008 @ 10:16 pm | delete
Nice site. I recently had my BP 163 over 101. Kind of freaked me out. It was related to an allergic reaction I was having, but that was still pretty darn high. My doctor wasn't too concerned about it, and so some good Vitamain B5,B6, and B12, along with some good fish oils and other good stuff, I'm back down to 138 over 80. Still a little bit to go, but that sure is better than having taken some prescription meds.

Did you know that untreated Snoring develop High Blood Pressure and Hypertension and snoring is a bigger issue in relationships than what many experts had originally thought. Snoring is a real problem that at times can separate a couple within their own home and eventually break up a marriage or relationship without really knowing that snoring was the original underlying culprit. Good information. I heard that cayenne pepper is excellent for the heart and its an all around tonic for the body.

Very interesting. For hypertension, a supplementation of milled flax seed daily works for me. Now I know hawthorne berries and pepper works too.
