My HobbyThing.com

Hello all hobbyists!

Do you have a hobby that is worth showing to others? Do you want to find people with interest like yours? Maybe you are looking for one? Or maybe you hobby became your lifestyle or your work (lucky you!)?

Most of us when asked about hobbies, will answer 'I do not have one'. But this is not true... Hobby is like a too big word for everyday interests and lifestyle. If you are passionate about something it is you hobby. It does not have to be collecting stamps or anything like that. Working in your garden to make it look all nice and pretty is a hobby already; or experimenting with cooking to impress your loved ones.
Hobby is anything that makes you relax, happy and takes your mind away form everyday troubles...
Sometimes would be cool to talk to someone who the same as you likes to dig in a garden, read long time forgotten classical literature or simply cycle around for a pleasure.

This is why a few months ago, me and my husband decided to start our own social networking website HobbyThing.com for people who would like to share their hobbies, interests and lifestyle.
And not only that, if your hobby is your work (again: lucky you!) you can also create your profile, throw some pictures and write some stories about your experiences.

We understand how difficult it is for a new business to kick off. We would like to help!
We want to give a chance to hobbyists, who put their first steps turning their passions into professions. Members are more then welcome to advertise their work in their profile for free. They can also find others with similar interests, make friends and maybe get some advice on the subject too.

So, that's my story of having a passion for something. From having no interest in IT world I got to the place when I am craving for more knowledge. My new hobby became my work... Or my new work became my thing!

Some hobbies can be unusual...

You think you knew it all...?

One of the reasons for HobbyThing.com to kick off was to gather together people with unique hobbies and lifestyles.

What about cooking as a hobby?

What do we really know about cooking?

Cooking is the process of preparing food by applying heat. Cooks select and combine ingredients using a wide range of tools and methods. In the process, the flavor, texture, appearance, and chemical properties of the ingredients can change. Cooking techniques and ingredients vary widely across the world, reflecting unique environmental, economic, and cultural traditions. Cooks themselves also vary widely in skill and training.

Preparing food with heat or fire is an activity unique to human beings, and some scientists believe the advent of cooking played an important role in human evolution.http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/02/09021...

The health benefits of different types of hiking have been confirmed in studies.http://www.miller-mccune.com/health/for-good-health-take-a-hike-796 The word hiking is understood in all English-speaking countries, but there are differences in usage.

In the United States and United Kingdom, hiking refers to cross-country walking of a longer duration than a simple walk and usually over terrain where hiking boots are required.Colorado Mountain Club: More than a great hiking club... A day hike refers to a hike that can be completed in a single day, often applied to mountain hikes to a lake or summit, but not requiring an overnight camp, in which case the term backpacking is used. Bushwhacking specifically refers to difficult walking through dense forest, undergrowth, or bushes, where forward progress requires pushing vegetation aside. In extreme cases of bushwhacking where the vegetation is so dense that human passage is impeded, a machete is used to clear a pathway. Australians use the term bushwalking for both on- and off-trail hiking and occasionally tramping for overnight walks. . New Zealanders use tramping (particularly for overnight and longer trips), walking or bushwalking. Multi-day hiking in the mountainous regions of India, Nepal, North America, South America, and in the highlands of East Africa is also called trekking.

Check out the craft section at HobbyThing.com

A craft is a skill, especially involving practical arts. It may refer to a trade or particular art.

The term is often used as part of a longer word (and also in the plural). For example, a craft-brother is a fellow worker in a particular trade and a craft-guild is, historically, a guild of workers in the same trade. "Ringcraft" is part of a boxer's skill. See some further examples below.

The term is often used to describe the family of artistic practices within the decorative arts that traditionally are defined by their relationship to functional or utilitarian products (such as sculptural forms in the vessel tradition) or by their use of such natural media as wood, clay, glass, textiles, and metal. Crafts practiced by independent artists working alone or in small groups are often referred to as studio craft. Studio craft includes studio pottery, metal work, weaving, wood turning and other forms of wood working, glass blowing, and glass art.

A craft fair is an organized event to display crafts by a number of exhibitors. There are also craft shops where such goods are sold.

Folk art follows craft traditions, in contrast to fine art or "high art".

Both Freemasonry and Wicca are known as 'The Craft' by their adherents.

How to make a pressed flower picture.

on HobbyThing.com

When planning to make a pressed flower picture I recommend starting from planning it. Consider which kind of flowers you would like to use in your project. You can use some pressed flowers you have done before or pick some in your garden wait for a while and then create a composition.
Choosing the background is also very important. You have a choice of ...using different materials...

Extreme sports work well as hobbies

Find out for yourself!!!

Check out HobbyThing. com section on skydiving here

Parachuting, also known as skydiving, is the activity of jumping from enough height to deploy a fabric parachute and land.

The history of diving starts with Andre-Jacques Garnerin who made successful parachute jumps from a hot-air balloon in 1797. The military developed parachuting technology as a way to save aircrews from emergencies aboard balloons and aircraft in flight, later as a way of delivering soldiers to the battlefield. Early competitions date back to the 1930s, and it became an international sport in 1951.

Parachuting is performed as a recreational activity and a competitive sport, as well as for the deployment of military personnel Airborne forces and occasionally forest firefighters.

A fixed base operator at a sky diving airport operates one or more aircraft that takes groups of skydivers up for a fee. An individual jumper can go up in a light aircraft such as a Cessna C-172 or C-182. In busier dropping zones (DZ) larger aircraft may be used such as the Cessna Caravan C208,...

Travelling...

who doesn't love it?

Many people have travelling as a hobby.

Travel is the movement of people between relatively distant geographical locations for any purpose and any duration, with or without any means of transport. Travel also includes relatively shortIn any case, less that a year. stays between successive movements. Movements between locations requiring only a few minutes are not considered as travel. As an activity, "travel" also covers all the activities performed during a travel (movement).

Travel is a wider concept than a trip. A round trip is a particular type of travel whereby a person moves from his/her usual residence to one or several distant locations and returns. A trip can also be part of a round trip.

Travel is most commonly done for recreation or to visit friends and family (generally as part of tourism), for business or for commuting; but may be for numerous other reasons, such as health care, migration, fleeing war, etc. Travel may occur by walking or human-powered mode, or through mechanical vehicles, either as private or public transport.

Travel may be local, regional, national (domestic) or international. In some countries, non-local internal travel may require an internal passport, while international travel typically requires a passport and visa.

The word originates from the Middle English word travailen ("to toil"), which comes from the Old French word travailler ("travail"). A person who travels is called a traveler (U.S.) or traveller (UK).
