...How it Works
Holiday Travel of America is a travel incentive marketing company. We are not like a traditional travel agency that you contact to make travel arrangements. In most cases we don't call the airlines and hotels directly to book your trip. Your certificate is always based on space availability and first come is first served.
Historically, the travel industries slowest time for travel is midweek (Tuesday - Thursday). Cruise lines, hotels and airlines offer less expensive travel during the week than they do on the weekends. Hotels, cruise lines and airlines don't want to be left with empty rooms, empty cabins, or empty seats on a plane. They don't make money when they are empty. So approximately 30-45 days out, they will sell their unused inventory at deeply discounted rates to us. This is how we are able to offer you, the certificate holder, a complimentary trip, less taxes, which are continually held in a non-interest bearing client trust account.
Hypothetically, let's say 20 people request June 1 and our supplier only makes 10 packages available to us, this means that the first 10 will travel on that date and the next 10 will move to their next requested date. If their next date is not available, then new dates must be provided to process. It is always based on first come, first served. It's very similar to a frequent flyer program. The airlines will hold a predetermined amount of seats on a plane for the "miles redemption" travel and when they are gone, you either select a new time or different dates. If you still only want that specific flight, then you have to pay for the flight. It's a similar concept.
Perhaps you are interested in extending your stay or upgrading you accommodations. Any deviations from what the certificate offers are considered a customized trip and no longer our pre-set package. We work with additional suppliers that give us great contracted rates which we pass on to you. Basically you can customize your trip to your satisfaction and whatever you paid for your tax/port deposit will be applied towards any upgrade cost.
So in a nut shell, with "promotional travel" you will travel, however you have to be patient and flexible. Sometimes it does take time and changing your dates more than once. That is why the certificate expires 1 year from date of issue. Sometimes it may take that long. So what we suggest is to contact us approximately 45 days prior to your requested dates to0 check on the status of your request. The best way is email, cs@htoa.com, as sometimes our phone lines are quite busy. Please don't make any plans until we contact you with a confirmation that you are booked.
