Holidays on St Armands Circle

31st Annual Holiday Night on The Circle

The tall Christmas Tree on St Armands Circle lights the historic shopping district with holiday spirit illuminated with thousands of white lights and lighted silhouette decorations!

On the 31st Holiday Night on St Armands Circle held Friday, December 3, 2010, the Circle magically came to light and life with grace and elegance. Throughout the season, visitors enjoy strolling elegant shops. The shopping area also makes an inspired location for a relaxing lunch - an afternoon tea - or a candlelit dinner- and top off your evening with a horse and carriage ride under the stars.

The official kick off to the Holiday season, the Holiday Night began at 6 pm with Santa's arrival and the lighting of St. Armands' 4-story-tall Christmas tree. And, of course, we musn't forget the arrival of that jolly old elf, Santa Claus! If you missed it this year, plan ahead for the 2011 version.

Twelve live musical entertainment groups scattered thoroughout the Circle and strolling musicians add to the festivities. Children can visit with Santa and share their wish list!

Stores have extended store hours and the feeling of holiday cheer is in the air.

We Can Only Hope for Some New Old Music

Gaudete, or Rejoice, dates from the 16th century

Steeleye Span perform 'Gaudete' on their 'World Tour' 35th Anniversary. The Electric folk group Steeleye Span had a hit in 1973 (No. 14, UK singles chart) with an a cappella recording of the song. Guitarist Bob Johnson heard the song when he attended a folk-carol service with his father-in-law in Cambridge, and brought it to the attention of the rest of the band.

Where's best place to catch holiday spirit?

Trigger joviality of season

I've tried lots of ways to boost my holiday spirits. I like to go shopping on Christmas Eve even though I usually finish my To Do list early. Watching everyone rush around buying last-minute gifts and sharing holiday greetings spinkles the air with goodwill.

How do you keep your spirits high during this festive season?

Even when it's warm outside, we like to visit. My boyfriend and I love to go stroll around “the Circle” several times a year. It’s very family orientated yet still has restaurants and bars for the vacationer looking for fun.

I make my boyfriend take me Salsa dancing at 15 South. Cha Cha’s and the Columbia have been nice night spots. I want to go to the Daquiri Deck soon (it just opened). Tommy Bahama’s ledge is fun to hang out and watch people. http://www.SaintArmandsCircle.com has a listing of business. Ice Cream shops, Jewelers, Galleries, etc … It’s a fun time, go there if you are in the area

Ah -- I just left the South after 17 years to move to the Midwest. Christmas in Sarasota and spending time around St. Armands Circle sounds far, far "warmer" than the Missouri winter I have chosen! :) Your sunshine and warm Gulf breezes are really appealing. Have a lovely - and warm - holiday on St. Armands Circle. I'll try not to envy you too much! :)
