Holly dog on the loose!

Holly, is one of the dogs who doesn't drool. But when i got a hamster and let her watch it she actually drooled on my floor. She is part Jack Russel terrier so she wants to kill other animals she just doesn't know it. So even when she sees a cat she cries and bangs in to windows trying to get out of the house. Also multiple times a week she escapes the house we have tried many ways and she still gets out! A few weeks ago when Holly had got out she caught a kitten and we got it out of her mouth before she could harm it. Also just today Holly caught a baby possum and when she does it she expects us to reward her like she got us food or something.

It's been a while since I wrote about Holly. Well a lot has happened she has turned 5! She no longer has any excuses she isn't a puppy anymore!
Just yesterday my mom took Holly to get her shots, she got one for kennel cough and some other things later that night she was very upset with everyone. When someone walked in our yard she started freaking out barking like crazy and scratching at the window, she doesn't do that normally! Then today she ran away, she ran away yesterday too lately she has been running away more.
Either she is getting better at getting away or we are getting lazy!

A few days ago was just like any other, Holly was spending another day in her backyard enjoying the last bit of warmth she could before winter. We were inside unaware of what was going on outside until we got a knock at the door from our neighbors down the street. They asked if we had a little brown and black dog and said she was loose, apparently she had been loose for a while. They didn't know who's she was and were trying to catch her to check her collar, when she ran in our backyard they figured they'd ask. We searched for her for a while and we kept an eye on where she ran even though we couldn't catch her. Then, pushing through the gate she ran into a fenced yard and after that she disappeared.

We searched and searched but it was getting dark so we gathered flashlight and half of us went out walking and half riding in the car searching. It felt like she was gone a lifetime, we couldn't even hear the jingling of her collar which had always been they way of us knowing where she was.

All the worst case scenarios went through my mind as I thought that I may never see her again. We had to stop searching at some point so we came inside after at least two and a half hours of searching. We left the front door open hoping she would come back, not to long after we went inside I heard a barking in the backyard like she does when she wants us to bring her back in the house.

We all rushed into the backyard even the slightest chance was a chance to find her. We found her their trotting around her backyard acting like nothing had happened and pretending that we had just forgot about her. Either way this has taught me to appreciate her a lot more. Almost losing my dog made me realize just how much I love Holly.

I know that even though Holly is a Houdini and she loves running away and being free she will always come home.
