Solar Power & Wind Power Website Reviews

Solar power/ Wind power/ Magnetic power

Great DIY websites that will give you the tools and information to turn your home into a sustainable environment. They are ranked according to which ones I thought were easiest to understand, and offered the best value (Don't worry though, their all fantastic!).I have personally reviewed each one of these websites.

Check them out for yourself by clicking on the banners below. You may purchase these kits by going to these links

  1. www.greendiyenergy.com
Definitely the best DIY solar energy website I have come across in terms of building solar panels. The instructional videos that explain how to build solar panels step-by-step are amazing. There is even a testimonial by a 12 year old explaining how easy it was for him to make his own solar panel at home.

  2. www.earth4energy.com
This is a great site for both Solar Panels and Wind turbines. They send you the materials for wind turbines and solar panels. You can have your own solar panel up and running for under $200 with this site! If you have ever looked into buying solar panels and having them installed, you know how much savings that is. Check this site out.

  3. www.homemadeenergy.org
Very similar set of instructions to Earth4 Energy. This site is one of my favorites because it has a heavy focus on converting to solar power to save natural resources and the environment. The whole reason everyone should be building their own solar panels! Highly recommended site.

  4. www.energy2green.com
This site has written instructions rather than videos but are very easy to follow. They guide your throw building a solar panel for under $200 and a wind turbine for under $100. You buy all the materials at your local hardware store with a list you get when purchasing the DIY kit

Wind Turbines

Wind power can be a great compliment to solar power, giving you even more free energy

It is only within the last 20 years or so that the conversion of wind power into a renewable source of energy has become a viable option. Modern wind turbines harness the power of the wind by using rotors fitted with aerodynamic blades to turn a shaft which rotates inside the generator which will then produce green electricity . Like harnessing the sun for solar power, harnessing the wind to turn into energy is a renewable source of energy that you can use whenever the wind is blowing. Wind power is great for any home that is looking to be more sustainable and use more alternative sources of energy. If you set up solar panels as well as a wind turbine on your property you are set for life. When the sun isn't shining, you could potentially be collecting energy with a wind turbine.

Pros Of Home Made Wind Turbines

  • -Save money on your electric bill each and every month, starting from the moment you set up your wind turbine.

    - The use of wind turbines does not generate any pollution or waste. 100% renewable energy

-Wind power may be used to provide electricity to individual homes or other facilities on a self-reliant basis, with no need for fuel or other materials to be supplied. If a natural disaster were to occur, people with wind mills would not lose their supply of electricity.

-Wind turbines do not require any other source of fuel in order to operate. Meaning that when using wind turbines you are not using any coal, oil, gas, etc and are not contributing to the eventual depletion of all these fuels.

-If you live outside a power grid, wind turbines are a great way for you to create your own energy

    Cons

-Wind Turbines can be damaged in thunder storms

-The advantages of wind power are obvious and they far outweigh any of the disadvantages. What more do we need to know before we embrace and capitalize on the power of the wind?
