What A Way To End The Season!
Homestead-Miami Speedway is the home of the season finale races for NASCAR Sprint Cup races, NASCAR Nationwide Series racing, and NASCAR Craftsmen Truck Series racing. And what a gorgeous spot it is to have finales in. This is the only racetrack I have ever been to and I loved it. Didn't get to see a race there - I was on my way to Key West and stopped there while they were doing time trials for the Ford 400. The track itself was closed to visitors because they were working feverishly to repair hurricane damage in time for the race, but we could enter the complex. There was a perfectly delightful guide there who was also working the gift shop and she told us stories and let us shop for a while. While there we could hear the cars thundering around the track - all in all, it was a good day for a NASCAR fan, and I have the coffee cup to prove it.

Homestead-Miami Speedway On Wikipedia
Homestead-Miami Speedway is a race track in Homestead, Florida (southwest of Miami). It plays host to Ford Championship Weekend, the final races of the season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Series, and the Craftsman Truck Series. These races are currently all sponsored by Ford Motors, taking the names Ford 400, Ford 300, and Ford 200, respectively.The speedway was constructed, with the efforts of promoter Ralph Sanchez, as part of a plan to help Homestead rebound after the devastation caused by Hurricane Andrew. Groundbreaking began August 24, 1993, less than a year after the hurricane. It opened in November 1995 with a NASCAR Busch Series race. In the spring of 1996, the CART series held its first race there.
The facility is considered by some to be one of the most beautiful in the country. Though located southwest of Miami, the track reflects the art deco district of downtown Miami with its liberal use of colors such as aqua, purple and silver, among other colors.
