Instead of hanging out with the opposite sex, or getting into drugs, they spent hanging out at the stable.

Horse Back Riding Lessons For Kids - What To Look For Before You Enroll Them.

Horses are big animals. Even a gentle one could hurt a small child if it accidentally stepped on the child's foot. Safety and proper horse handling techniques must be taught by a knowledgeable person.

If you are thinking about enrolling your child in Horse back riding lessons , check out the stable first. Look for the following..

  1. Are the other children wearing helmets on and off the ground? It is like wearing a seat belt in a car. You do not work around a horse, or get on a horse without a helmet.

  2. Are the other children wearing appropriate riding boots? Little feet, and poor co-ordination while learning to ride may result in falls. You do not want your little ones foot to slip through the stirrup and be dragged by the horse.

  3. Are the children supervised by an adult at all times. Children can do the most unpredictable things, and horses are as equally unpredictable. Children must be supervised at all times while in the company of horses.

  4. Ask the instructor how they begin the lessons. Good instructors teaching basic lessons, always start with kids working and moving around horses while still on the ground.

  5. Is the instructor and or the stable insured? You must ride with an insured company! Their insurance will cover you for any injury that might occur.

  6. Is the instructor a certified instructor? Certification is very good. But, get the company name and research it. Make sure your instructor has a decent certification.

  7. When you are at the facility, have a look at the appearance of the place. Is it tidy, or disheveled? Do the horses look happy, shiny, and well taken care of? Do you feel good being there. How does the instructor make your feel? Is he or she friendly and interested? Meet the owner/instructor, and give yourself time to see how she communicates with you. Ask other people or parents what they think of the instructor and the lessons. If they are not 100% happy, then find another instructor.
