Horse Crazy Kids

Are you crazy about horses and ponies, or do you know a kid who is? Do you own your own horse or pony? Obviously you do not need to own a horse or pony to be crazy about them. However, you just might need some additional information. This site provides unique and useful information, websites, book recommendations, gift ideas and more.

I grew up horse crazy, and my daughter's childhood has been full of crazy horse and pony experiences. Together, we would like to share our favorite experiences with you. We will continue to update this site with our favorites, so check back often for new information and updates.

Visit a Horse Show

This is a great family event.

We love to watch horse shows with Olympic level riders. You do not need to own your own horse and it is a great experience for the whole family. Our favorite shows to visit are; The Devon Horse Show and Dressage at Devon. You can easily find a horse show near you by using the United States Equestrian Federation search page. If you are not sure about what search information to enter, just select a competition year and then select the 'Search by Criteria' option. At this point enter your state. A list of shows will be displayed. Many of the shows have a website providing additional information, so check one out and have a great time.

This is another great family activity.

Trail riding is a fun way to spend time with a horse or pony. For many horse lovers, trail riding is like taking a mini vacation that they would like to repeat daily. It is an addictive activity that will have horse lovers begging for more. There are many stables that have horse rentals for trail riding. When looking for a stable, make sure they actually have trails to ride. Some stables offer trail riding, but ride mostly on roads in undesirable locations. Even if you own a horse, you can't be with them all of the time. You can however, get involved on an entirely different level, by reading a book series dedicated to these fantastic animals. This is a nice activity that will have you involved with the lives of many horses, ponies and other horse crazy kids.

Join a Horse Club - Ownership of Horse not Required

These are two great clubs for kids who love horses and ponies.

A horse club is a great way for kids to enjoy horses and ponies with other kids. There are many clubs that do not require you to own a horse or pony. The 4-H clubs also have model horse clubs. Each club has different rules, so check out the links below, locate one in your area, and if you do not own a horse or pony, remember to find out about their horse ownership requirements.

United States Pony Clubs: The United States Pony Clubs is one of the leading junior equestrian organizations in the world, represented throughout 30 countries. It is not necessary for a child to own a horse or pony, but they must have access to one when required.
4-H Horse Club: This is a great club for kids of all ages. Some clubs do not require the child to own a horse or pony. You will need to navigate this site to find a horse club in your location.
