The Horse In Art
The horse has been a part of creating civilizations and conquring old ones. It has also been a part of man's artistic expression for even longer.
The Horse In Art
As time progressed, the horse found it's way to working beside man as a partner. He carried men upon his back and helped plow fields. The Horse was a source of strength to do things that man would not have been able to do without this partnership. Paintings of horses fighting in battle and of early farm life show how important the horse was in early history.
The horse was also later recognized as a source of entertainment in the form of racing and competitions. This was also documented in art all across the world. Paintings of jousting, war horses, racing horses, jumping horses, all depict the beauty and strength of the horse.
Today, the need for the horse is not so much as it was in the past. It is however, still very well loved in the art world and is often used to symbolize freedom, strength, and nobility. The horse in art branches across many different cultures and many different mediums from paintings, sculpture, photography, and film.

This pony is not only the subject of artwork but also makes art himself!
The Painting Pony paints beautiful paintings by holding a paint brush in his mouth and moving his head to create strokes of color on a canvas. He has his own website where he sells his artwork to help pay for his medical bills (as he has Equine Cushings Disease) and also donates a percentage of his sales to research on Equine Cushings Disease so that he can also help other horses. The Painting Pony also showcases many different designs to choose from in his Gift Items Cafe Press store. His owner, Jessica is always creating new designs to add to the collection. Jessica and her husband, Daniel, are both also artists who use the horse as a subject of their creations.
