How to have a Horsey Halloween

My family is horse crazy and we love to have horsey Halloweens. A horse themed Halloween can be as simple as a costume or as big as hosting a party. Your child does not need to own or ride a horse for this to be a huge success. Take a look below for a great collection of Horse Themed Halloween ideas.

Horse Halloween Costumes for Children

Our favorite horse costume is one where it appears that the child is riding a horse. These costumes are usually only available in children's sizes 4 to 10. If you are looking for a baby costume, there are full-body horse outfits. These are great for cold weather areas! Another great idea would be a cowboy or cowgirl costume. They are usually available in all sizes.

Decorating Tips and Ideas

If you already have Halloween decorations use them. This is Halloween, you do not need horse themed decorations. However, if you want to decorate for your horsey themed party a haunted barn look is always a crowd pleaser. You can use bales of straw, make cobwebs, create a fake stall door, and use some of your child's horse statues and stuffed animals. Take a look below for other great ideas.

Horseless Horse shows are always a huge hit with the participants and spectators. These shows are great for Halloween parties, birthdays, barn parties, as a fund raiser, intermission at a horse show or just because they are so much fun. You can easily host a Horseless Horse Show at your house or barn and it is an event that is fun for all ages. Take a look at the site below for details on how to host a horseless horse show.

More Games and Activities

These are other fun events that will keep your guests happy.

Pin the Tail on the Horse - You or someone you know can draw a horse on a large poster. The tails can be made in advance or have your guests make them. For an easy to make horse tail you can use yarn. Double over a few strands of yarn and tie another smaller piece of yarn in the middle to keep them all together. They can even be braded if desired. Have different colors so everyone knows what tail is theirs.

Horseshoe Pitching - You can purchase a plastic toy version or if you have a local barn chances are they have old horse shoes around that they would be more then happy to give you. You can make up your own rules or see the Basic Rules for Horseshoe Pitching.

Horse Pinata - If you are going to have candy this is a great way to give it. As a favor you can give a bucket. This can be given as a horses water bucket. It can be filled with the candy from the Pinata. If you chose to play the Fill the Horses Water Bucket game you are already set. If not just write the name of the child or the child's stick horse on the bucket.

Bobbing for Apples - This is every horse and horse lovers favorite game.
