I love hot chocolate on a cold day. Making it yourself is a great idea. Great lens!
  • Jimmie Sep 12, 2010 @ 11:12 pm | delete
Making your own is a great way to produce a customized and cheaper alternative. I like that you can control the sugar. Pre-packaged mixes are really mostly sugar.

Although I've made lots of mix myself, I still prefer using whole milk, sugar, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt to make real hot chocolate on the stovetop. Nothing tops that.
  • vallain Feb 13, 2010 @ 1:36 pm | delete
This would make a great gift. Everyone needs a warming mug of hot chocolate now and then.
  • luvmyludwig Feb 13, 2010 @ 7:39 am | delete
I always plan to do this, but sometimes it is just easier to buy the prepackaged until you see the price difference that is. Great job on this!

I love hot chocolate, my mom, sisters and I used to drink hot chocolate and play games in the evenings. Good memories!

This looks like a great small gift idea. I could see putting 3-4 servings in a small ziplock bag and then putting the bag in a gift mug. It would make a great gift for teachers or others that you want to present a small gift to! 5* lens!

I never have considered making hot chocolate mix. Great idea! And good timing; I'm sitting here sipping on a mug of hot cocoa right now. It's getting chilly here in Flagstaff, so I just bought a few boxes of hot chocolate packets. Since we go through so much of it over the winter, I'll have to try your recipe.
  • EverythingMouse Oct 2, 2009 @ 1:59 pm | delete
I certainly do like hot chocolate. Nice to see another mouse on Squidoo!

Interesting recipe. We always make our own hot chocolate powder (we make most things from scratch). Ours is really simple - 1 part cocoa to 2 parts sugar. Then we heat on the stove with milk. Anyway you make it, hot chocolate is GREAT! It's what gets me through endless winters.

What a great idea! I was thinking about hot chocolate just this morning and wondering if I could make my own. What a wonderful recipe and with everyone's purse strings being so pinched this is perfect! Grab a coupon or two and make it even more economical. Saving this recipe and beautiful lens. Faved and Fived!
