The buy home made products movement continues again this year due to the quality problems with most toys from last year, and that is to Pledge to Buy Handmade toys.

It is unfortunate that Mattel has been unable to implement an appropriate Quality Supplier Assurance program and protect its customers. On October 24th Mattel management made the press release that they are now going to implement an inspection process to help control the quality of paint used to make their toys. Quality experts know that inspecting quality into a product was abandoned in the 1920's, yes the 1920's. This action might make the paint problem go away, but a problem will just show up in an area which they are not inspecting.

Toys 'R Us Identified What Types of Toys kids have wanted.

So what kind of toys do they want this year?

1. Toys that Mom and Dad have! For myself, this means they will want a new computer, a Mindstorms NXT robot and many electronic items that Dad Has. The Kid Tough digital camera by Fischer Price will sure to be on one of the lists.
2. Bilingual Toys. Many of these toys currently exist, my kids have always liked Dora the Explorer products.
3. Interactive Experiences. Musical instruments and appropriate software titles are usually big hits. Wow Wee makes numerous toy robots such as RoboRaptor.
4. Electronics Not Included. Once again, toys or activities which challenge a child's imagination and that do not require batteries. Play Dough, play medical kits, etc.
5. Imaginative Play. Think Legos and toys that challenge a child's imagination. Art easels, trains, etc.
