How Do I Make a Resume That Shows My Qualifications?

What Do I Include In My Resume? What Are My Qualifications?

When you make your resume, you need to show your experience. But please, don't just list your job responsibilities in your last or current job. Tell your future employer what you did with those responsibilities! Tell them how you helped overcome the problems you had.

If your job responsibilities included counting your receipts at the end of your shift, you should tell them how often your receipts were right on the money! Tell your future employer how well you did your job. Not just what your job was.

How Do I Make a Resume: Format

There are so many formats! How Do I Pick One?

Listen, format doesn't matter as much as you might think when you make a resume. What matters is how readable your resume is. Now, if there's an accepted format for the type of job you're going for, then use that format. But for many jobs, especially entry level jobs, all that matters is that the format is consistent and READABLE!

How Do I Make a Resume: Should I Use Jargon?

Does Jargon Make A Resume?

Ah, Jargon! How well do you know your job? Your industry? Can you talk the talk? Well, you can talk the talk on your resume only if you can walk the walk!

But you should make sure the person on the receiving end will know the language. Otherwise you won't impress them and you may come off as someone that doesn't know what they're talking about!

Only use industry standard terms in your resume. If you're not sure if it's standard, don't use it. If you have to use an industry buzzword that you're not sure everyone knows, make sure to explain the meaning in your resume.

How Do I Make a Resume: Look At The Pretty Pictures!

What Does This Design Have To Do With A Resume? NOTHING!

When you make a resume, it's not all about pictures! Do you have a picture in your home that you don't like? Probably not many. Have you seen pictures in someone else's home that you don't like? Probably. Good art designs are in the eye of the beholder!

You should stay away from designs or any artwork on your resume. It's distracting and probably will not add to your chances of getting the job interview.

Now, this doesn't apply to people applying for jobs as a designer. But you know who you are...
